I'm both happy and scared at the same time.
More star wars is always good but i'm afraid continuity will be destroyed beyond repair.
Let's hope for the best.
I wonder what will happen with the book, comic and game licences.
The lady to run Lucasfilm, under and reporting to Disney, was selected by George Lucas. She was also his co-chairwoman on the board of directors at Lucasfilm under his ownership. That said I think that continuity is important to the Star Wars franchise in tying together a larger story. You have the films, then you have the expanded universe, which plays out the before, the after, and behind the scenes of the movies. As successful as the franchise is, I don't think Disney would scrap a big piece of why Star Wars is multi generational phenomenom.
I don't they are gonna take any piece of expanded universe, and make a movie out of it. I think George Lucas probably had an idea where to go if he wanted to continue making Star Wars movies. I think we'll see ancient history, or far enough away from ROTJ, to possible have aged Luke, Han, Leia, Lando as cameos. I think the story will be around another cast.
But if they don't work with something from the expanded universe, that's going to mess up established canon.
I'm hoping that they will do the Thrawn Trilogy, but I'm scared that if they do they will balls it up somehow.
As long as whatever they do is set in the same tone as the original trilogy, I'll be happy.
I'm actually wondering what they're going to do with the music, will they keep the old music or write new tracks?
About the movie, It sounds really cool, and I'll definitly go and watch it, but as stated above they might screw it up and undermine canon, that I wouldn't really like.
I lift up my knife with great rage, stabbing it into the peanut butter jar, pulling out the guts of the jar; it's creamy peanut butter! I slam it with all my wrath onto the slice of bread, as I make a peanut butter sandwich! You're next... jelly.
NOOOO!
As awesome as that would be, I have this horrible feeling that they would screw it up like EA have done with every Battlefield game after Vietnam.
(Similar to what has happened to Call Of Duty since the original's expansion pack)
