[Help] easy texture

Could anybody tell me a good and easy texture maker program (i know photoshop..)
but i only make a bump map(*.dds) in this program and i want to make a starting screen and modify some texture.
Please someone write me which is the "easyest" way to do it.

I only use Photoshop CS2, it can save in .dds, or .tga. But I have heard others use Gimp, and Paint.net. If you already know Photoshop, then it is the easiest in my opinion.

GIMP is the best free option IMO

I've used it for 2 years now, and i can tell you its great.

i use Gimp and have for 3 years i have also tried paint.net but didn't like the interface

Erm...Mudbox is a 3D sculpting program... So are you just talking about Normal Maps specifically are you just wanting to know how to make a basic texture? Mudbox exports Normal Maps but isn't all that great for diffuse textures (in any case, ZBrush is better). If you're just looking to paint textures, than Mudbox is definitely not the program you're looking for...
