Default Faction Help

Hello everyone,

This is another help thread . I've finally added in a new faction to the campaign games. Currently it is the Corporate Sector, which will be followed by the Confederate Remnant, Mandalorians, the Hutts, and another Pirate faction. I have a couple of questions:

How do you get faction icons to appear in the Galactic map? I've added them to the factions, MTD, and CommandBarComponents.XML. So far, However, the icons are not appearing at all. What else is needed?

The factions also have new Starbases but according to the game they still have default pirate bases that appear next them in the Galactic map. But the bases show up correctly once a battle has started. I want to remove the pirate Asteroid base. How do I do this?

And finally, is it possible for me to get the factions name on the Economy /military list? The list that shows you who is dominate with planets and military.

For skirmish go to Spacestations.xml and look for the factions skirmish space station, add the units name where you see the rest. (you have to do this for every level you want. Ex: you want it for level 3-5 you have to add the name in for 3, 4, and 5)

Umm what? Ok, well to make models you need 3ds Mx 6 or 8 I think. They can make models into .alo (the proper form for Eaw models). But! you can also use other free ware programs like Gmax (which is similar to 3ds max but can't transfer files to .alo) I'm not so good in the modelling area so i might have left some details out, such as Uving and hardpoints and stuff.

Do you mean the explosion and the kind of laser/missile the unit uses? Or do you mean the hardpoint of a unit?

You must realize, that empire at war runs on a very limited engine, thus resulting in the impossibility to mod certain aspects of the game. If you're really intent on replacing the pirate asteroid base from the game entirely, then all you have to do is replace the model of the asteroid base in in the art folder with a scaled down version of your new base model renamed to that of the scaled pirate base used in galactic. If you dont want the pirate base to show at all, then all you gotta do is replace the model with the model used for the invisable projectile fired by lightsabers in the same manner as i discribed above.

Beware, this will affect all of the bases for new factions, so its reccomended that you use the invisable projectile as your replacement model if you plan on having more than one new faction.

There are no incinerator trooper mods at this time. However, The Force of War mod for Forces of Corruption does plan on adding it. There is a picture of their model and skin here.

You need a special modeling program and its plugin for Empire at War, for skin..As far as I know, there is no easy program for it. You just need to learn and use plugins if necescary. Ask some skinners which program they use.

I also have a question about skins: When I try to view a skin with Paint.net, which should work, I only get some strange little squares all over the place where the picture should be. Does someone else have this problem?
