please help a newb
 

so...heres the thing, i'm not sure if its actually modding or not, but i would like some help or directions to help in regards to changing the values of my ships, units, bases, etc. i actually kinda want to devestate things and so i guess im looking to cheat the game...ive tried to mod the .xml files, ive tried turning them into .meg files and nothing is working...btw i have the gold edition of EaW, with FoC...don't know if that makes a difference...any help is appreciated

You don't have to pack files into .megs, just put edited files in [Game directory]/Data/Xml folder and run the game.

If you want to change the xml files but dont know how right click the xml file click open with then find notepad

heres the thing...i edit the values i want and save the xmls...but nothing happens. i extracted them from config.meg, made an xml folder and put all of the .xmls in it, and ran the game and nothing changed...

You put them in [FoC]/Data/Xml folder, right?

does it have to be foc? i want to edit eaw...does it apply for both games?

you have to substitute your changed values in the actual XML file for the game. xml editing is the same for FOC, but the tutorial is for EAW
