Custom hero unit problem

Hi, first post. Anyways, I have been working on learning more about modding the game, and of course read the tutorials posted here. I have my custom hero working and in game, however I wanted him to be a jedi (more or less). Here is the problem; The models I want to use for him don't have the animation for holding or swinging a saber. Ex) I played around with a gungan model and used vader's data to make him, got into the skirmish and bought him, all his animations working fine (walking, even holding his gungan water bomb launcher like its a saber), but he just uses it without swinging it (upon zooming in the animation for the shooting still works when he attacks, but it doesn't fly, just disappears and reapears each attack).

So I was wondering, is there a non-ultra complex way to add a saber to a unit that isn't made to hold it, even re-skinning a jedi with the model I want possibly? If not, guess I will have to settle for a bounty hunter type hero instead.

Thanks in advance.

The model needs an animation specific to that attack. You'll have to create a new model, or use an existing model that has a lightsaber swing. Basically what happens is during the lightsaber swing animation, an invisible projectile is created to cause the damage. Modelling requires 3ds max 6, or max 8, without those, and modelling experience, you cannot create your own model for EAW/FOC.

Leshank, can you direct me to section about modding heroes? I don't know if I'm blind, but I couldn't find any info on this topic, and I'll soon be interested in it...

Hi, might be easier to use the dark side adept model for your hero :P he already has the animation and you can barely see his face. I'm sure lightsaber reskinning wouldn't be too hard if you don't like the red saber.

I made a ZC Dark jedi using it.
