You could have the rebellion start off with 1-5, then perhaps after Tech 5, a new research center becomes available to the rebels allowing them to research and produce ships of the New Republic Era, with older ships like the Y-Wing being removed/replaced by items like K-Wings on key worlds (kuat, rendilli, coruscant) and the older ships still available for production on fringe planets. 5 levels of space stations could be kept, possibly even spread out more so that they only upgrade on odd Tech Levels. This would allow gameplay to span an much broader timeline.
Can this be done, or no? | technically you can increase the tech levels however tech 6 upwards is buggy. i.e. squadrons dont spawn from ships. our mod was working on something similar with the tech levels but there were too many bugs with tech 6 so we made it that it changed at tech 5. as for replacing the ships with newer ones, i suppose you could use the story xmls so it is like the z-95's that are replaced by x-wings. only chnage it for the ships you want. and as for leaving it buildable on outer planets, just create a variant at that tech level with the build planets listed as you want it.
overall, your idea is best implemented at tech 5 at the latest. there are too many bugs with extra techs. as for extra space stations, that is a whole other issue. |
