Default Modding Questions - Ships and Maps

I have two questions for those experienced modders out there:

1-Is it possible to make a map similar to bespin platforms that extends into space with capital ships? You could get in a ship on a platforms and fly back and forth between the cap ship command post and the "ground" command posts.

2-Is it possible (and how) to import a tie fighter into the republic side of a space battle?

1: Somewhat. You can't combine together a space and land map if that's what your talking about. You can, however, just make a really high sky and put Space Ships up there and maybe have a night sky. Or you could do what the author did in the Dogfighting Death Star map of which I have no idea how he did it. But I would choose #1 its probably a lot easier.

2: Easy. Just copy all of the Tie Fighter files (ODF, MSH, REQ, etc) out of the IMP side and paste them in the REP side folders. Remember to add the Tie Fighter to the main REP REQ file and load up your vehicle.

Thanks. However, do I need to change (in the filename) imp_fly... to rep_fly... ? Or can I leave it as imp and it will function fine.

And actually what I'm doing is putting a tie fighter into a republic hangar, and I copied all the necessary files. However, nothing appears in the hangar in the red area it would spawn in.

You don't need to change the name. Its best to leave the names alone because those are the names they are all linked together with. If you change the file name than you have to hex edit and change all of the names within the files.

And for it not appearing, I'm guessing you missed a couple files. What I do is do a search for the name of the file I want to use in your case "TIE" or whatever its named without the IMP_... Than I open up the file in a Hex Editor (I use PSPad) and do a search within the MSH file for the file type (MSH, TGA, etc) and copy any of the files that it calls for in the MSH file. Because sometimes TGA or other files are named differently and are used by multiple MSH's.

Also make sure you added it correctly, I know that's probably not the problem but its good to double check.

Another question: once you make a map and lets say I screwed something up that I can't find how to undo or I just don't like the map, how do I delete it from the addon folder when it's not even there, and even the ones I delete from the modtools directory in C:/ still appear in the level selection screen. How can I delete them? Are they saved somewhere I don't know?

From this I assume you have Vista. I do as well. The same problem plagued me until I looked in:
C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Pro gram Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\Addon

Delete at will.

Make sense of that! ^

Did you add the .req file and add "imp_fly_tiefighter_sc" (or what ever the req is called) to rep.req?
