icon_question Newbie completely stumped on mapping!

Hello.

Recently I downloaded the modtools for SWBF2 and, despite my best efforts (and reading the guide), I can do no more in Zero editor than look around my dev map's flat grassy exterior, and do some texture painting. I can't even manage to place objects! Is there any step-by-step tutorial that shows you exactly how to make a map, even a very simple (but playable) one?

No there isn't, everyone figured it out on their own. It is really easy just keep trying things out yourself and read all of the docs that come with the Mod Tools. You can also go to GameToast and check out the tutorials there or simply click here. I'm kinda busy but if you want to know how to get props in Zero Editor go into BF2_ModTools\Assets\Worlds\XXX (XXX is the three letter folder of the world props you want to use for example COR is Coruscant) and copy the "effects", "msh", "odf", and "MUNGED" (if there) and paste them in BF2_ModTools\data_AAA\Worlds\AAA (AAA is your map). Now open up Zero Editor and load your map from BF2_ModTools\data_AAA\Worlds\AAA\world1\AAA.wld (world1 might be named differently). Click on the objects tab and than browse and go into BF2_ModTools\data_AAA\Worlds\AAA\odf and pick any object you want to place and click okay. Also, make sure you have "Place" clicked on at the top on that tab, the other button is for selecting the object. Than simly click to place the object.

Hope it helps,
