scipt editing

I am a new modder, trying to have a little fun. I have a basic understanding of zeroeditor, but none of scripts ('Getting Started' says that there is a document with info about scripts, but I searched and can't find it). Can you edit weapons and unit skins with scripts? And if so, how? Where can I find more information (like a 'child friendly' explanation  )

Re: scipt editing

The "Battlefront2_scripting_system doc" explains each part of a script.

The ODF files should be what you want to edit. There is a documentation called ODF_guide.doc.

Actually, wait. I edited some things in the odf files for republic (BF2_ModTools\Assets\Sides\rep\odf) but when I run my game, it doesn't seem to have any effect. What am I doing wrong?

Re: scipt editing

DON'T "edit" anything inside the "assets" folder!
If you want to edit something, copy it FROM the "assets" folder and paste it into your mod level(example = data_ABC), then edit to your hearts desire.
If you have edited too many things in the "assets" and you can't remember how to get them back to the way they were, then just reinstall the Modtools.
