Model/Character Skinning Help Please Hello, this is my first post here, but you can dispense with the pleasentaries and cut to the chase. I would like to know how to 'reskin' or however you say it here the troop or unit models in the games, or at least open up the skin files or editibal images. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.:nodding: |
Re: Model/Character Skinning Help Please Ah, unit creation! The fun stuff! Ok, first there are two important tools you'll need. One is a paint program that opens TGAs. I'd recommend Gimp. And a hex editor to open the MSH files. Once you got those send me a PM. |
Re: Model/Character Skinning Help Please I was the one who tipped you off to that :P Anyway, sometimes "OverrideTexture" works, but for some reason some units don't like it. So you have to manually edit the MSH files in a hex editor, changing the TGA file it looks for (sometimes there is more than one, make sure you change the right one!) For instance, the arc trooper mesh has inside the file, references to "rep_inf_arc_blue.tga" and "rep_inf_arc_pack_blue.tga". If you want the red arc, change the pack_blue to pack_red, and arc_blue to arc_red etc. Don't change the wrong one by accident :P |
Re: Model/Character Skinning Help Please Yah, I don't think I thanked you. So thanks. |
Re: Model/Character Skinning Help Please "Override Texture" only works for some units, like B1 Battledroids, because Pandemic realized that they would have multiple color schemes in-game and they were set up with support for "Override Texture" inside XSI. |
Re: Model/Character Skinning Help Please Yeah, there were several supported units, mainly the Battle Droids and Clone Troopers. |
