MSH for Imperial Officer Well I've been going through the assets for units and noticed there is a low res MSH for the imperial officer but no main MSH. Does anyone know where to find a msh for it? Also I'd like to ask about certain units that seem to not be able to take override textures. Like the clone pilot. I have to go and change the name of my texture to the name of the units texture in order for it to take effect. But this also causes other units using the same MSH to have the changed texture too. So I just wanna know if there is a way to get override textures to work for these certain units or if there is a way to replace the main textures without having a XSI program. |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer theres a msh for the imperial officer in the bf2_modtools assets, and i think you can dl just the bf2 assets and not the whole thing at gametoast, and just modify the texture in your map instead of making a new one |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer It'll work for BF1 right? |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer yes |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer Yes, I tried it. However, you will need to use the BF2 texture, and either rename it "test_inf_officer" or edit the mesh in a hex editor and change all references to "test_inf_officer.tga" to "imp_inf_officer.tga" On top of that, I suggest re-saving the TGA file, just in case it is the wrong format (I got that with old skins I made in PSP 4 |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer So the hex editor is what specifies the texture used by a MSH? |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer Not exactly... the texture is added in XSI. However, the name of the texture is referenced in the MSH file. Change that reference (although the name has to be shorter or the same length as the string in the file). This basically explains better than me: -= Gametoast.com =- • View topic - One model, several textures (FAQ) |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer Interesting. |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer Dang, I downloaded a hex editor but it says "rep_inf_pilot.msh is a read only file and cannot be edited." It'll open it but not let me edit. Does it depend on the program? |
Re: MSH for Imperial Officer Deselect "Read Only" in the file properties. ;) Yeah, I couldn't get the Episode III trooper to override textures in the ODF, so I did it through hex editing. I did it before I found that tut, but it works beautifully. There ARE limits. For instance, you can only reference a texture that is set up in the same way. IE, you can swap out any of the Clone Trooper skins. But you can't put a rebel trooper skin on a clone trooper. |
