multiplayer problems

i don't see this listed in the forums. I was trying to play an online multiplayer game. when i go through the setup, according to the manual, there is supposed to be a # Private Slots, which from what i understand, is supposed control the human player aspect of it. There is no # Private Slots. and when i continue through the setup, it tells me i need to have at least 1 human player. now, i have patches 1.1 and 1.2 installed. no conversions mods. the only thing different than stock is ships that i have manually added. now i'm trying to play against a friend who has the same exact ships and weapons and such, also has 1.1 and 1.2 and he is missing the same thing. i've tried searching the internet and can't find any help there. of course, bethesda is absolutely worthless. help please!!

Can you post a screenshot of your Multiplayer screen?

I apologize for the late response. I was out of town on business. Here are a few screen caps.

Re: multiplayer problems

You can't start a match with just 1 player. You sound to be talking about the Gamelobby and pressing launch there. You have to wait for players to join your game.

Players won't see your game if your behind a router or firewall. You can reconfigure your router or shut off your firewall to enable multiplayer. But also you can't play Legacy Multiplayer (Lan or Internet) on Windows Vista (or Windows 7) with any amount of setting changes.
