Modeling problems

Trying to port something from bridge commander and something done in lightwave.

First bridge commander:

I am trying to get the hard point thing. I saw the tutorial but it doesn't say "how" to make a joint and then "how" to move it. Forgive my 3d stupidity but thats the part that has me. Also none of the M3D exporters work for me. I have Mikshape 3D 1.8.2 no luck. please help with these issues if you can. Thanks

Lightwave:
I downloaded the Lightwave importer from milkshape and it when I tried to use it it said the file had too many chunks. have no idea what that means. just hope someone else out there does. thanks guys

The model having too many chunks basically means, that it's split up into too many groups for Milkshape...I suppose the model is in lwo-format?

As for BC: There are two ways of creating a joint. The first is to create a top-level joint, that is no children of another joint. If you want to create one of them you just click joint in first tab and click where you want to have it. You can move it using the move tool, which is also located in the first tab. If you want to rename the join you need to go in the joint-tab, how to do that is self explanatory...in this tab you can also select a joint (which can be done in the viewports as well btw). If you select it you can rename, move, delete it. But you can also add a new child-joint by simply selecting the to-be-a-parent-joint, and then creating a new one using the same method as above (with the difference that you selected the parent beforehand). You will notice that the child is connected with it's parent.
Also, here is a short explanation of the first tab. You'll have to use it very often in Milkshape.
