Default 'Unity: The Third Age' and STGD intro

Unity: The Third Age' is a mod for SFC3 revamped totally from CaptainKoraH's TNZ last November with his blessing when he left the 'community.'

Hard to believe it's been eight months. 12,000+ downloads later and coverage on GameSpot, SFC3files and the Star Trek Gamers Directory and the Star Trek Gamers Universe, and we just keep cruising along.

Before the old files were cleared from the SFC3files site, Unity was one of the most popular downloads, and was 'File of the Week' for over two months. We havd 3,600 downloads of the ol' Unity V2.0 and V2.5. Add to that similar numbers at STGD+ GameSpot, and you have one of the most widely downloaded mods in the history of the game.

We play an active roleplaying campaign, currently on an eight-map camp with new ships coming all the time.

Unity has grown to ally and share work with ThePelican, Chris Jones, Atra, Raven Night of Nightsoft and Bridge Commander Universe, Wicked Zombie, Grinch, Major Racal, James Formo and the dozens of modelers out there who have participated in the mod.

Now Unity has become a shipbuilding business ... We have over 700+ ships from Dominion Wars and Unity in the SFC3 shipyards, also sponsored by STGD.

I hope to spend time here and share some of my Trek gaming experiances ...

I am a moderator at STGD's moddinf forums where Unity is sponsored and the lead admin/mod coordinator for 'Unity'. I have worked with a team of modders since last November, when CaptainKoraH of TNZ (The Nuetral Zone) fame turned his entire works over to the Brotherhood of Trans-Atlantic Knights. I was the CO, chief council and founder of the Knights. Last month we merged with the Spartan Vanguard-11thFleet-

Our work with a team of fleet and non-fleet modders continues ... The Unity mod has over 450 ships upcoming in the V3.1 patch and they are brought from all over the Trek gaming genre; Bridge Commander, Armada I/II, Orion Pirates, Empires at War, Klingon Academy, personal builds and from the TNZ base KoraH left us with last year.

A new race of Pirates is being introduced next campaign -- due out in two weeks -- and I hope some of you here join us for some gaming fun. Cozbo, our lead modder, is finishing Unity conversions now and a beta is due out in the next week. We will, as usual, host it on SFC3files, GameSpot and STGD.

I come here to introduce you to the mod and over the next few days will be linking pictures of ships, bases and hope to bring you a feel for a gaming experaince you may never forget.

We are hooked through the GameSpy Network through STGU and owe much to those who helped us along the way with one of the most successful mods in the SFC3 galaxy.
We are doing several versions of Unity now ... A TOS mod is next.

Inside our forums we have a shipyard containing ships from five mods, including Chris Jones', ThePelican's (Dominion Wars) and three other SFC3 mods there; near Distant Future, Alternate Universe A/B, Elite's 711 mod.

Raven Night of Bridge Commander Universe and NightSoft Designs (shipbuilders) are there now sharing BC experiances as moderators and this community has exploded of late with new toys ... Atra, and many talented folks, of SFC1/2 fame and modelers from across the gaming genre's are there sharing the entire Trek gaming and modding experiance.

I hope to bring you closer to an online gaming experiance ... Join us.

Thank you. I will post some pictures and the 'readme.txt' files in this thread, too.

Cheers,

It's been up on sfc3files for 8 months now in one form or another ... The V3.0 is there now -- 243 megs. Remember to install the game, then the V534 from taldren, then the mod.

The V3.1 will come out in a couple of weeks with a new fleet of Pirates, new Federation, Klingons, Gorn ... and Vackan. The Borg will go non-playable with the Cardassians, Ferrengi and Rakellian.

Don't miss this next round ... V3.1 will be one for the books. ThePelican is helping with some 8-bit textures which will greatly reduce the download size ... and we have some specials from Wicked Zombie, Nightsoft, Atra and some big-namers ...

See you in space.

And Chris, thanks for all the support this year from SFC3files. McDobbin is a class act and helps a lot.

Hi! I like the combat in SFCIII but after a while the game seems to be pointless. Just drifting from sector to sector, taking any mission that shows up (mostly scan and distress call). I only play single player and I just about gave up on the game when I decided to see if there were any mods that would make it more interesting.

Is this unity mod something that could help me maintain interest in a single player game? If not, are there any mods that would change this game from an endless repetition of combat with no goal?

Almost certainly. I hear it even has it's own story campaign, plus some new conquest missions (I think), and tons of new ships, which should also make Skirmish a little more interesting. One word of warning: once you play a modded SFC3, you'll never want to go back to an unmodded game. Trust me, I've combined Dominion Wars, The Neutral Zone, Generations at War, SFC3 Mega Mod, Island Wars, SFC2 TOS mod ships, SFC:OP FASA mod ships, and independant ship models into one HUGE mod, And can't even imagine how bored I'd be if I went back to a stock install of the game!

I almost forgot: if you decide against mods (ha ha), Have you ever tryed the general (story) campaign? It's not bad. i'd reccomend playing through it at least once before you get mods, but it's really your decision

It took two tries but I downloaded the Unity mod. I don't know if I'm just a totally lame player but I had to uninstall and do a clean re-install because...

1) I could not see the default ship given for the first Klingon campaign mission (black on black?).

2) Since there were no shields on the default ship and I did not start with enough prestige to buy a ship with shields I died ASAP!

Was something wrong? If not how do you survive with no shields?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Bob, yes ... that isn't right.

What patch did you use? You are patched wrong, fer sure.

And, what DX version do you have?

Also, see the batch files? There is a file to click to activate non-playable ships and add/remove shields.
