they did try popular music with enterprise but it just really didn't hit the spot. No good theme music, fact is they pay for that stuff as well. Most of the musically gifted fans could do better!

i do think rock music would be appropriate for some parts, particularly the action sequences but the instrumentation is extreemly limited (seriously 160 instruments in an orchestra each with at least 10 different ways of playing, maximum 5-10 in a pop/rock group with around 5-10 different ways of playing them each, can't compare really)

I think the best thing is to combine the styles appropriately. and the characters should all be interested in different things. And i think paramount need to stop paying for music that is inappropriate, if it aint gonna win an oscar what's the point?

(oscar defines the ability of the music to envoke feeling AS WELL as providing memorable tunes that can be marketed easily.)

'Personally' i like the DS9 & VOY music, TOS is shitty and TNG is ok, but i actually like ENT best (I know it's a soundtrack, but still)!

Enterprise instrumentals sucked especially after adding that stupid TOS beat in the background...

I always felt they should've done Enterprise like Smallville and tracked some bands to bring the show closer to the 21 century...

bands like NickelBACK
Aphex Twin
System of a down...

couldn've done wonders for Trek
instead they put 80's music in and the show crashed and burned

don't get me wrong I kinda liked it but I've moved on from the eighties and discovered far more cooler sounds

I guess everyone has different tastes I just like the ENT tune and think it goes well with the intro, however, if were not including theme soundtracks, I'm gonna have to go with DS9
