Who is your favourite character in Star Trek, and why is it not Gul Dukat?
I for one believe Benjamin Sisko's perennial nemesis is the best developed, most enjoyable character in all of the series, displaying so many sides and layers, he has to simply be the best written character of the franchise.
Badassery.
Insanity.
Rivalry and hatred!
I am unsure how Mark Alaimo didn't continue to get roles in big shows based off of his performances on DS9. Incredible actor and character.
Still, who'd you like?
MCFC OK.

As this is a DS9 love-fest I'm going to throw Jeffery Combs in the ring, not just one, but two great characters, Weyoun and Brunt. Not to mention that every other smaller character he's played has been great, too, and he's played several in Voyager and Enterprise as well as DS9.
Infact, I'm finding Enterprise a bit of a guilty pleasure right now. I'm liking Combs' portrayal as an Andorian.

^ This.
You want a character with layers? Garak's a freaking onion.
DS9 had better-written characters than any of the other series, so it's unsurprising that this thread is a DS9 love-in. Frankly, you could answer this question with almost any of the main characters on DS9 and be completely correct.

Shit, how could I forget Jeffery Combs. Dude is just a badass actor in general. (Love Reanimator!)
Weyoun was fascinating, and while I'll admit I con't care for any of the ferengi story-lines in Trek, brunt was a solid character.
Shran, though, WAS Enterprise. All those years you guys spent hating it, I couldn't help myself...Shran was part of that.

Secretly working my way through season 1 of Enterprise. For the most part I like it, apart from the temporal cold war episode so far, that stuff just seems a bit much when it was all about the spirit of a brand new crew exploring space for the first time, then wham, hello, I am the biggest war in Federation space AND time. Kinda overkill.
