Collecting Trek

I don't know if there already is a thread like this, if there isn't, this thread will be the only one like this. =p
So what do you all have as Trek collectables?
I myself am not much of a action figure or starship model collector. I am a huge fan of every series and thus I own every series of Trek on DVD:
http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-RX44LIKJ-D.jpg

Next, I've gone Blu Ray and I must say, past present and future, I've never seen them in better harmony =p
http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-E7A8K37I-D.jpg

So: What's all part of your collections?

Tricorder February 7th, 2010 09:15 AM

Re: Collecting Trek

Not much. Just a few games and movies.

Games:
  • Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force + expansion pack
  • Star Trek: Elite Force 2
  • Star Trek Bridge Commander

Movies:
  • The Wrath of Khan
  • The Search for Spock
  • The Voyage Home
  • The Undiscovered Country
  • Generations
  • First Contact

I would like to get at least the rest of the movies to complete the movie collection, but I can't find them anywhere. It's almost impossible to find anything Star Trek (and Star Wars for that matter) related in my country. And I have no intention of buying anything online. I don't trust Internet enough for that.

Re: Collecting Trek

Games:

Star Trek: Starfleet Command - Gold Edition.

Movies that I've seen (I own some of them)
  • The Motion Picture
  • The Wrath of Khan
  • The Search for Spock
  • The Voyage Home
  • The Final Frontier
  • The Undiscovered Country
  • Generations (My most favorite of them all)
  • First Contact
  • Insurrection

I started watching Nemesis last night, and it was actually pretty funny ;)

Why would you have the Director's cut of the Motion Picture, that just adds an extra 45 mins of them floating in a straight line through V-Ger =p

So he can boast himself how his (movie) is longer than yours. ;)

Re: Collecting Trek

I got all 10 of the original movies free actually. They were in a box in the staff room at work marked 'Free Stuff' so I thought 'why not?' :p

The bubblebath model I got when I was about 7. I recently found it in a box in my closet.
The book came with the Blu-ray of the latest movie and the games I bought just because I felt like it.

AlDaja February 7th, 2010 12:21 PM

Re: Collecting Trek

I have 23 big boxes full of Star Trek crap back when I used to collect it...I intend to use it toward my retirement. Last audit of all the collectible stuff about 8 years ago, put the trade value at $78,000 US. I have everything from comics, toys, electronics, models, uniforms, etc. I also have a bunch of stuff I bought on auction when Christie's was selling off Star Trek memorabilia. To include a USS Reliant large (almost two foot) damage model with missing nacelle (really cool), compression rifle used by Michael Dorn in ST: First Contact plaques of the USS Enterprise (NG), TOS, USS Prometheus (as featured on Voyager). I also have a couple of autographs. One by Leonard Nimoy, he signed the inside cover of his book I Am Spock and a signature of William Shatner on a napkin when he was hosting "Rescue 911" and did a show in my home town of Mt. Shasta, California. My wife also met Jennifer Lien (Kes) three years ago and got me an autographed photo. God Dammit! wish I was there, I have a thing for Jennifer Lien.:naughty:

Shuttlebay 2 February 8th, 2010 04:45 AM

Re: Collecting Trek

Damn, AlDaja. That's pretty darn impressive... If you bought the damaged Reliant, is there any chance I might have seen you on the DVD of the auction? =p

And I forgot games:
Armada I and II
Elite Force I and II
New Worlds
Starfleet Command 3
Klingon Academy
Away Team

dinosaurJR February 8th, 2010 06:12 AM

Re: Collecting Trek

Games:

Star Trek: Invasion (PS1)
Star Trek Armada (PC)
Star Trek Armada 2 (PC)
Star Trek: Legacy (360)
Star Trek: Tactical Assault (little known, for the PSP)

Movies:

The Star Trek X Collectors Edition Box Set (has all the movies, from TMP to Nemisis)

plus:

Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Directors Cut (2 Disc DVD)
Star Trek 2 - The Wrath Of Khan - Directors Cut (2 Disc DVD)
Star Trek 3 - The Search For Spock - Directors Cut (2 Disc DVD)
Star Trek 4 - The Voyage Home (2 Disc DVD)
Star Trek 5 - The Final Frontier (2 Disc DVD)
Star Trek 6 - The Undiscovered Country (2 Disc DVD)
Star Trek 7 - Generations (2 Disc DVD)
Star Trek 8 - First Contact (2 Disc DVD)
Star Trek 9 - Insurrection (2 Disc DVD)

So - I have like two copies of most of the movies...

Also, I have,

Voyager: Dark Frontier
Enterprise: Season 1
TNG: All Good Things (in my opinion, the greatest episode from TNG/Voyager/DS9)
DS9: Emissary (At least I think that what its called... Its the feature length first episode...)
Voyager: End Game (The crew make it HOME! WHEEE!)

I would love to get the TOS remastered on Bluray... just need to save up a wee bit...

Wait, what?
Marvel did a Trek/X-men cross over...'twas stupid.:bs: They even had the gall to write novels...they were stupid also, personally, it took some of the possibilities of future 'what ifs' for me out of Trek to see X-men universe merged with the Trek one. The franchise suffered for the crossover as fans did not approve, so the run was short lived.

I've got my eye on some stuff now. I recently found a store in The Netherlands which sells collectables. I'm gonna look for a TMP Phaser and a model of the original Enterprise

I like Trek, and up till now I had only the tv series on dvd boxes to show it. I wanted some physical models. As most models and model kits are too expensive of just suck, these were well priced and very good to look at.

What's the point anyway? Movies and series you can watch. Games you can play. Uniforms you can wear (in public =p), so collecting those things makes sense. Why do you need replicas, though? They just sit on the shelves, take space and gather dust. I don't see the point. But hey; whatever floats your boat is fine by me. ;)

I have a good size collection. One of me prize possessions is a copy of Mr Scotts Guide To The Enterprise signed by Trio, Chekov, and Sulu, that was personalized to me before they just started rushing you through a line just to have a name scribbled on your item. I also wanted James Doohan to sign it, but the time he was going to be here, he had to cancel and passed away before I ever got to meet him. I have many more autographs from Kres, to Russ, Nelix, Nana Vistor and several others. I have a few sticker sets from back in the 60's from TOS, and a few card sets. My biggest items are a fiber optic DS9 model, and the battery power ships from the movies. I also have all the films and tv shows.
