Something I've been thinking about as of late, is the 'what happens now' factor of Star Trek, at least, within its new timeline. The new era is suppose to play out during Kirk's early years, though we don't seem to know how old Kirk is.

If the Narada never came through time, the USS Kelvin would have never gotten destroyed, George Kirk would have been there to bring up his Son (Kirk) who would probably have enrolled in Starfleet at an earlier age, eventually serving on the Lexington, and then moving on to the Enterprise, taking over from Pike. Just how old was Kirk when he took over from Pike in the TOS timeline?

Many of the things that we've seen in TOS (and onward) would no longer take place anymore; more specifically, any scenes which are aimed around the Vulcan people, and the Vulcan homeworld (sure we can see storylines on their new one, but it wont be Vulcan, and it wont have all the temples and such that we saw on TOS and after).

There is also the problem with the Narada taking out that Klingon fleet. 47 Klingon Warbirds if I'm not mistaken; and it is a safe bet that the Klingons will have found out it was a Romulan ship which took out their fleet. Does this then mean that the Klingons would (in a future storyline) go to war with the Romulan Empire over this attack? Sure the Romulans would deny any involvement, but I can hardly see the Klingon High Council believing that.

I figure this would blow that whole treaty out of the window too (the exchange of cloaking devices, for some D7 Class Battlecruisers; not to forget the fact that J Archer was mentioned in this movie, and we know from the Enterprise show, that the Klingons already had the ability to cloak, so.....

But anyway, I'd like to hear what you guys think is coming up next; both with what you'd do and where you'd take it, and where you think the new universe will go (baring in mind who will be writing the storylines etc).

They knew it was a Romulan ship as soon as they captured Nero and his crew and held them on Rura Pentha(sp?) for those 25 years early in the movie. So im sure before this movie even ended the Klingon and Romulan governments were already sending messages back and forth. I would definetly like to see how this plays out in the next movie or two.

Well, with each passing week the growing general opinion is that the Enterprise series and this movie were already in the same(and alternate timeline) and that Nero and Spock did NOT actually go back to the past of the prime universe but that of which was created by First Contact. Even if there was no timetravel with this movie the new Enterprise would still be different inside and out though not as advanced ofcourse. And just because its an alternate universe doesn't mean that everything has to happen differently. Kirk and crew could still find themselves in 1960's Earth being chased by a F-104(though it would be present day and with a F-15, F-16, F-18 or F-22). Back to the Romulans, they would probably copy the D7 design into a true Rumulan version. Foas/Furyofaseraph is working on an entire TOS/TMP Rumulan fleet for BC and one of the ships he is doing is exactly that(Stormbird). Sorry, but were we even watching the same movie? Where was it shown that the Klingons captured Nero and co, and sent them to Rura Penthe?

Because if a Russian Spy Plane was caught over the US, the US would believe the Russian's if they claimed they had nothing to do with it, and the spy plane was actually one sent from the future..?

I'd also agree with your later paragraph too. It would make sense to conclude that everything from the First Contact Past leads up to this point. That would include Enterprise, and XI.

Go back to the trailer from November. Remember when Nero said "The wait is over." Notice how that and many other things weren't in the final movie. Scroll down to the deleted scenes section. Im guessing the Klingons just beamed Nero and crew to their ships and they didn't feel like the Narada wasn't a threat or whatever and they left it. And since the borg tech on the Narada was modified(we really don't know the true extent of what the Rommies did to it all) the regeneration process problably kicked in a lot later/slower than it would on a Borg ship. Now, how does the Narada get to Rura Penthe? Maybe it was following(without warping mostly likely) Nero's life sign or something to the prison colony and im sure the first thing the Narada did was take out thoose 47 ships and maybe started bombarding the surface. Then beamed the crew aboard. Though ofcourse we will have to wait and see when Nero and the DVD/Blu-Ray is released.
