1) The new warp effect is interesting.

2) The Kelvin looks like it already has damage when it warps in to engage Nero's ship(aft-starboard of the saucer).

3) At first I thought the one shot of the Kelvin was it exploding but it actually colides with a big piece of debris(owned Vulcan defence force?).

4) The pylons on the Enterprise are curved inward..kinda odd.

5) The hanger shot is very reinvisioned BSG-isg.

6) The new Enterprise DOES look better in motion.

7) Yes, the Enterprise does have the fins on the nacelles.

8) The starbase is very Trek no doubt about it(seriously it looks like it fits an any era).

If I'm not mistaken, I think I've actually seen that base (or something very very similar) in a game somewheres...

I've practically shared my thoughts on this already: http://forums.filefront.com/starbase...k-trailer.html

Looks pretty good I think, though I don't understand the need for someone to be driving a car (your typical car) in the 23rd century. But still... Odd too, that a 23rd century technologically advanced bike can't actually overtake, or do anything to a 21st century car. :uhm:

Looks like Kirk and Uhura get it on too, unless I've looked too much into that trailer. All round, looks like its going to be a pretty neat movie, even if I'm not so keen on the new Enterprise look.

You aren't mistaken. I don't know the game either (or mod, if not a game), but the design has been out there long before this movie.

Heres a bunch of screen captures(1080p ftw!).

Rear shot of the new old Enterprise going to warp(no front shots...those are everywhere).

A wounded Kelvin and a pair of shuttles trying to evade and destroy some incomming missles/warheads/drone weapons from Nero's giant B5 Shodow/x-mas tree/nail ship.

An already wounded Kelvin aproaching Nero's vessel(just warped in?).

The Enterprise warping in right into whats left of the Kelvin(big saucer chunk?), another Starfleet task force(atleast 4 ships...one looks kinda like a Hermes/Saladin) and some Vulcan?/Klingon?(middle-left in the back...kinda looks like an evolution of the Raptor) ships.

Ambassador Spock's timeship(the back part rotates)?

Re: Star Trek XI - Official Trailer 2 release!

And the rest.

The Kelvin about to collide with part of Nero's ship.

Something happening with Nero's vessel(notice the small explosion and the chunks flying in the second pic).

Spock's timeship? flying through Nero's ship.

Some more of those missle/warhead/drone things on there way to meet the Kelvin(anyone else getting a slight Borg vibe?).

And finally the Kelvin getting barraged.

The space station looks like it might be...

based on the orbital office complex in STMP
Image:Orbital office complex st1.jpg - Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki

Or the Regula I station in ST II:TWOK
Image:Regula I and Mutara Nebula.jpg - Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki

The piece in the center left that might be Klingon or Vulcan wreckage IMHO looks very reminiscent of a Klingon D7 cruiser aft hull with the boom still attached. Problem is what looks to possibly be a bridge looks to be on underside of where it would usually be.

This trailer gives me a bad feeling about this movie. To save time, I will give you all a link to a video somebody made, and he has mostly the same feelings about the video as I do. YouTube - Star Trek Trailer Review

i totally agree with this guy ... i'm seeing the picture, hearing the sound >> no problems what so ever processing the given data but when my brain tries to connect the audio/visual input i received with the name star trek i encouter a "red screen fatal error 0x000052e33f1c" saying to the people at paramount to go f**king rape another genre ...

and i'm not a brainless moron who constantly complains about how trek is being milked out by paramount as i see the difficult implication of a money-obsessed industries that has to keep itself going ... i'm fine with that (!) but spiting in the face of countless millions of trek-fans (and i for my part am sure that most "already-trek" fans will hate this crap) will not get them anywhere near the big PLUS they're trying to cash with it ...

it looks like freakin oc:california in space, only that i'll be expecting johnny cho to get up any moment tell chris pine and the rest of the crew to f**k off and the get some dope from sickbay (which bones of course is keeping only for medical purposes) ... eversince they went with trek for the "new and trendy" mainstream thing, things started to get screwed

Um...Medhiv, you do know that most of this movie takes place in an alternate timeline right?

There's no way in hell I'll pay money to see this movie.

Ugly ship, dumb 'prequel' plot, teen angst meets Star Trek... I'm not interested.

Re: Star Trek XI - Official Trailer 2 release!

I don't think the mechanics behind time travel is the issue with people, but the fact the mechanics are used as a central part of the story. It's something the last few trek series are guilty off, an alternate universe/timeline episode allowed writers to do a lot of off-the-wall stuff such as blowing up the main ship/killing main characters.

I think many people just wanted a canonical story for the movie and are now disappointing to found out it's another "alternative" story rather than actual history of the trek we know.

That said, trekkies are quick to complain. If it's not the nacelles being 5 centimeters too long it's the fact Kirk is not played by "that old guy". Hell, some people are even complaining the new set is not reminiscent enough of the ol embedded crt/peper mache props of old.

No, what is going to kill trek would not be this reimagination but the inability to change with the times. You think the old battlestar galactica would have had a chance?

Re: Star Trek XI - Official Trailer 2 release!

Well, its not an alternate universe till like the Kelvin is destroyed(2330's?)...which sets things in motion. Remember what Wolf 359 did for Starfleet? They developed ships that would have been built only during and after the Dominion war and not years before(Intrepid) aswell as some that probably would never exist until the 25th century(Defiant, Sovvie). That is what happens here. All of those Klingon and Federation ships that fall to the Narada causes the Constitution class and therefore the Enterprise to be built years before(2350's) it should have been. Which also explains the TMP improvments that we see. We already know that the original 1701 Enterprise was built on Earth(the plaque says so) but, in this situation it would be Iowa and not San Fran. due to that San Fransisco would be the first target or one of the first. Building it in Iowa only helps the secrecy of the project because then very few would know about it.

Makes since to me.

This totally screws everything over IMO. If Kirk never served aboard the Lexington, then why does it state such in TOS? I really think sci-fi shows should stay away from time travel if they can't get it right.
