Ok...so a new movie... So they make a prelude movie...then what ? The franchise dies ? Not a whole lot more can be done, before the tv series, the series, and after.....now what? Did they really have to take the TOS direction? If you ask me Enterprise showed a dying desire for what they are producing as star trek. No one cares anymore...and now this.....How about a fresh , NEW IDEA? |
Re: Ok...so a new movie... What, another one? Aside from TAS, TNG and the movies they've all been new ideas. While I personally like DS9, VOY and ENT collectively they've not done the series much good over recent years. |
Re: Ok...so a new movie... Time travel, kirk and spock again I dont know it just sounds" 2d-dimensional fan boi " |
Re: Ok...so a new movie... Think they sould just let ST rest for awhile. It is clear the new exects at Paramount/Viacom have not care for Star Trek nor the people they bring in to write/produce who admittedly have no idea what ST is about. |
Re: Ok...so a new movie... Personally, I think Star Trek is dead (or dying). No show really goes on forever. Remakes may become avaliable (Battlestar Galactica, and Doctor Who being prime examples), but generally, shows die. Babylon 5, Star Wars, Lost in Space... They've all had their shot, and they're now over. Star Trek is following in that lineup (as much as I hate to admit that). Enterprise (whilst in the wrong direction), I thought was a good show. It was just the fans being picky, and awkward that eventually killed the show. Then they make a movie (again, based in the past, and based upon something that we don't need to see) - Kirk and Spock. In my opinion, TOS has had its lot, and should stay where it is. Not to be worked on, unless they do a remake (like they've done with BSG). Though for that, they'd need to leave it a few years and then think on it.. Ideally, what needs to be done, is nothing, at least not for the next 5 - 10 years. Then, after a nice long break, bring in a new show, based somewhere in the 25th century. |
Re: Ok...so a new movie... something ive heard some people talking about how with techonology is getting better and better, and alot of the stuff the producers were using on recent star trek projects (ie: Nemesis, Enterprise) is outdated compared to home technology. So why cant they leave a new startrek series up to the fans? we all know what we want, so why doesnt paramount ditch "berman and braga" and pick up "public and tanlented"? |

The characters are as memorable and beloved now as they ever were. They do not age. B5 is slowly releasing Lost Tales on DVD, and I revisit the entire series regularly. The high definition transfer of TOS was excellent. The show never looked better, not even (or specially) when it first aired. So, those episodes may not be new, but... Quote:

Re: Ok...so a new movie... i was hoping they would make a movie set in the 24th cent. not the past i don't really care that much for tos or pre tos. maybe even a brand new ship with a brand new crew would seem ...interesting..... But if anything they should make a voyager the movie that would have been good if you ask me |
Re: Ok...so a new movie... or a DS9 one - or one with both of those in. |
