Star Trek XI: What They Should Do... Ok, so we all know that the next Star Trek movie, is going to be TOS based, and is going to revolve around Kirk and Spock, and their first meeting (even though they don't actually meet until the Enterprise). Anyway, I haven't started this thread to rant about how bad a movie I think the next film is going to be. Instead, I'd like to say what I think they should have done, and would also like to hear from the Trek Community (here on GF) on what they think should be the next movie. For me, they should finish off the Enterprise-E, and Picard. Continuing on from ST: Nemesis. Patrick Stewart (Picard) and Brent Spencer (Data) have both said that they no longer wish to do any Trek acting (even though Brent Spencer went and did a couple of Enterprise (Archer & Crew) episodes). Anyhow, I think they needed to 'end' the Enterprise-E. We know generally what happened to all the other Enterprises: NX-01 - Decommissioned NCC-1701 - Refitted, then Destroyed NCC-1701-A - Decommissioned NCC-1701-B - Unknown NCC-1701-C - Destroyed NCC-1701-D - Destroyed And now, we've got the Enterprise-E. They need to have it destroyed in my opinion. Having it Decommissioned would just be plain boring. Likewise, they somehow need to kill off Picard. In effect, they've already killed off Data (though, in a sense, he is still 'there', just as another android). Thus, what I think they should do: The Enterprise-E gets attacked near the Breen Boarder, all communication is lost. Starfleet inform Riker, who in turn informs Worf (who by now is actually with the Klingons, as the Federation-Klingon Ambassador). Riker, goes against orders, on a search for the Enterprise-E, and Picard etc, Worf, joins them, maybe with a few other Klingon ships (Picard has done a lot for the Klingon Empire, no doubt there would be many who felt him an honourable man, and would wish to help). the Titan, and Klingon task force go looking for the Enterprise-E, find her, battered and disabled. Rescue the survivors (one of which is Picard, though he is dying, and with no chance of survival, and in turn dies in the Titan sickbay). Then the Titan and Klingons get attacked by the Breen, suffer heavy resistance, only for two Romulan Warbirds to decloak (on of which is the Valdore, under the command of Donatra - she said to Picard in Nemesis, that he has made a friend in the Romulan Empire), and they then fend off the Breen, the Enterprise-E blows up (warp core overload, or maybe the Breen could destroy it to stop a salvage) and then Riker reports back to Starfleet, thanks the Romulans and Klingons, and effectively ending the Enterprise-E. First up, we wouldn't have any 'questions' afterwards, such as 'What happens now', and secondly, we get to see the Titan (Luna Class) in action. In addition, they'd no doubt include a new Klingon ship (if they were to use Birds or Prey, I'd scream), maybe throw in a new Breen design or two. And we get some neat combat. |
Re: Star Trek XI: What They Should Do... Sounds like a good scenario. Though I wouldn't want Picard to die, if I could chose I'd like the Ent-E to survive after Picard, though not too long. For anyone who has played Legacy, Picard mentions in the first mission wheyou can use the ent-E that he'd like the ent-E to survive long after him. Which is something I'd like to have come true. I'd place a few modifications on your story: Picard doesn't die and the ent-E doesn't get destroyed. They find the ent-E, badly damage and unable to fight. Picard is heavily wounded and gets transported to the Titan. The breen make a bombing run on the still able to fly enterprise, making one of the warp-nacelles to explode, together with the aft tip, and the ship to go on drift. After this last adventure, which proceeds mostly like you said, Picard decides it's best to stop commanding ships (he still suffers from the wounds he got and will keep on having trouble with them for the rest of his lfe) and settles down to whrite his memoires and enjoy the siple things in life. The Ent-E gets repaired and refitted. And when Picard dies, years later, the entire crew comes together once more and the Enterprise makes a few honor shots as if it had to say goodbye aswell. Sounds like a good ending for a trek movie. |
Re: Star Trek XI: What They Should Do... The only problem with that, is that the Enterprise-E is still there. - The entire point of this, would be to make ends of the Enterprise-E, else people will be left with the same question we've got of the Enterprise-B. Was it destroyed, or was it decommissioned? |
Re: Star Trek XI: What They Should Do... mmh supa eum tycoon, i watched generations again and i was screaming when i saw Kirk dying. I have seen the movie a couple of times (14 years a 15 years old) but because now, i realised that these were heroes and i never saw completely tos. So, i wouldnt know what will happen if i see Picard dead (with that flute music :( ) Sov002 has a point. We see the enterprise e giving a hell of a fight. Picard dies with the first shots (wow wait! ) and the commander (madden, the same actor that plays mayor hayes) shows his qualities and fights like hell. the enterprise e shows its true qualities with his leadership but still its fails. The titan and some bops or new klingon ships come in (with maybe voyager or defiant(sisko?)) and helps.battle over.. Enterprise e heavily damaged gets to stardock and they say that the ship is so hard damaged it isnt worth it anymore and they need to build another one, a newer sovereign... Picard is death but he is with his best friend Q. Together he and Q, helps the universe or is a representative for the UFP. Enterprise gets repaired and all the original crew comes for the last time together on the ship. Riker sits down and points a star on the screen. 'Take us there, steady as she goes.' the enterprise e moves out and makes her last trip before she comes in the musea as one of the flagships that was damaged everytime... BUT TOS movie XI... I have heard a lot of this. JJ is going to work on it but i believe star trek fans as well. Those guys said the same stuff as we of nemesis etc. I think this is good for the movie because finally we are going to see some stuff that the producers never understood because they arent like us (trek fans). THose guys said that the film is full with action, even much more then FC! And they said that paramount is giving them a unlumited budget. If this is really true and not some bulshit, then wow. Imagine, battles and camera movements like battlestar galactica. Beautiful new looking constitutions and miranda's next each other and a huge fleet of rommies come to each other and swarms of torpedoes, etc fly to each other. Camera's diving in battle with explosions so bright that the camera shakes like hell. Footage zooming in on spectacular fights like a constitution that is hammered with pulses and were metal is shot off and rams an old warbird. My god, im getting wet :D :D :D hahahaha but really imagine! |
Re: Star Trek XI: What They Should Do... It is unlikely that any of the Armada ships would be used. As for the Avenger, why would Worf have a Federation ship, if he is now within the Klingon Empire? |
Re: Star Trek XI: What They Should Do... armada ships? avenger? he is not really with the klingons... He is still part of the federation but he is some sort of representative by the klingons... remember, he was in insurrection by the enterprise etc... |
Re: Star Trek XI: What They Should Do... He's retired from Ambassordor to the Klingon Empre...he was in Star Fleet's uniform and with out furture explanation... That's sad..to think that these charaters will spend almost half there lives under Picard... |
Re: Star Trek XI: What They Should Do... It is kind of a trademark of Star Trek for its characters to have unusually long tours of duty at a particular assignment. |
i personally reckon that they should have the next movie as an end to the TNG cast (a proper send off) and have a new crew on perhaps a different ship, or maybe even still the enterprise. |
That wouldn't work, simply because Riker and Deanna are on another ship, and Data is dead. In essense, they've already given Riken, Deanna and Data a 'send off'. They just forgot about the remaining cast. |
