Kirk vs. Picard

This poll has probably been done before at some, but...
Which character is your favorite of the two? To be fair, please note that this poll is intended for fans who are at least somewhat familiar with both the original and TNG.

I have a hard time deciding between the two myself. I like them both nearly equally, but the TNG episode "The Best of Both Worlds" (the Locutus one) wins my vote in Picard's favor. I feel that was one of the greatest episodes of any show in the history of Sci-Fi.

Well, they are both different, and both did different things.

How would Kirk had heald off against the Borg? How would Picard have dealt with the Voyager Probe? - Besides, the episodes (especially TOS) weren't really to my taste.

I'm not going to vote, simply because there are two different eras. You need to pit the two at the same task to determine who is "better"

i like both of them!!! I choose picard but normally i choose both of them!

Picard: a person who likes poetry, art, philosophy, women and has feelings for other people and is gentle...

Kirk on the other hand is more a women dude(in his young ages) and for his friends he is gentle but he is more and faster rude then picard..
Like "BONES GET OF THERE YOU....."
Jean luc would never say this...

Re: Kirk vs. Picard

I grew up with Kirk, and while Picard is a fine character he lacks the charm of Kirk in my opinion. Both in commanded vessel AND in personality. If it wern't for Patrick Steward (sp?) then Picard would have been too un-intresting to even pay attention to.

Ah, Generations. It was the movie that showed Kirk handing the reigns of the Enterprise to Picard. While I do like them both, I like Kirk better, because whenever I think of Star Trek, I think of Bill Shatner and Company. I loved how the NCC-1701 looked. (In my opinion, she was more beautiful without the refit, but apparently the nacelles gave her more speed, which is something that never made sense, seeing how she was capable of Warp 10 for about 15 minutes pre-refit, and Warp 9 for 2 Hours as emergency speed, with standard cruising speed Warp Factor 6. Of course, she was also the most unofficially modified ship in the fleet (unofficially meaning Montgomery did quite a few unendorsed things) Of course, they removed all of that when they did the refit. She also had the most Beautifully shaped Hull. God, how I'd love to own the studio models. Err...Yeah, Kirk was quite the innovator himself. As a matter of fact, Kirk was Picard's role model. Picard read everything he could about Kirk. So a lot of the things that Picard does, he does them in his own style, yes, but Kirk would have done something more dramatic with the exact same result.

Your forgetting that the warp chart (what ever its called) was changed around the refit time, the reift IS faster. Also the refit did more than upgrade the speed, it adressed the Constituion's lack of armament arcs, and added better sheilds and general sysems.

Old Coni= Could only Fire torpedos forward and backwards and the same applyed to phasers.

Refit Coni= Now has three phaser banks on the bottom and top of the scaucer section two at the back and likely two on the bottom of the stardrive section. Seems to have lost rear torpedo launchers though?

Heh heh, I love that episode. I was telling one of my layman friends about it, and he thought I was joking. :D
