The amount of windbags bitching about this game is really doing my head in..:mad:

WE ARE ALL APART OF A MODDING COMMUNITY

When is the last time you ever heard of a modder whinning like a little bitch :uhoh: about game controls instead of going about trying to find the solution? Game Controls are NOT HARDCODED into any game, and just becuase there is no menu option to change them does not for ONE SECOND mean the controls cannot be changed..

Search for Configuration files. They should either be .cfg or .h files... Look throught the game directory for anything that has config in it's filename.. THEN open it with Notepad.. and start searching through the file for the field containing game controls.. Then change them...:deal:

Anyone who is unwilling to do a little file editing should NEVER visit a modding site..

Now either start searching for these configuration files to change or continue to play with the controls given..WHAT ever you choose to do, stop bitching

right on guys all these people comoplaining about legacy i bet dont even know how to file edit or dont want to if so they shouldnt even be here and no game is perfect and not gona plesese everyone i'm getting my copy today so well see

I have always pushed to better myself, and the problems I have encountered in life, in all . I have always tried to understand that in life, diversity is a necessity and constant. I have survived my youth , I have survived war, and I have survived cancer. I know nothing but to overcome all things layed down before me. At least I put my thread in the RANT section,so what did you expext? Feels good to vent doesn't it (IKS yo mama), and you havn't looked in the program files yet or you would know whats in it, YOU DUMB A$$!!! moderator or not, everyone needs to vent a little. Actually Bladerunner I do not have the game.. However I took it upon myself to get the Input.MAP file and do a tutorial on how to approach changing controls...

I have overcome alot too in my 19 years on this godforsaken crapfest including being trapped in a housefire and being put into a coma for 3 weeks.

And I really couldn't give a flying squadron f*ck what you think, I really couldn't.. But thanks for your time and your expressful comment... But I have to go and see how to fully change all the controls because I would rather do something about the controls (so I can help ppl) than sit here and bitch to a forum of people who don't want to hear me bitch

BTW - I was the one that gave him the Input.map file, which is the file that configures the keyboard for play in Legacy.

So, leave IKS Yo Mama. You want to vent? Vent at me. Don't take it out on a moderator who can ban you on a whim.

I agree !! Hey have you heard of any exporters for this game yet, cuz I keep running into dead ends. I allready have dds importer for photo shop( textures) importing. .ODF I can view with notepad or viewer from Armada 2, but I cannot find a .m3d importer. I was curious cuz I am ready to rip into this game and I have never worked with a .Md3 file yet. If you come up with a way to chang the controls I'd be one of the first to thank you, additionaly if I could help in any way ( if it is in my power and or knowledge) please let me know, i'd be glad to help,Or I might know someone who can.

I say what I believe and I hold back for no one,ban me , kill me, or hurt me I don't care. I know it puts people off sometimes, but try not to take offense to it .This attitude has kept me alive, and allowed me to retire at 33 years of age.

The game may, due to the efforts of modders, eventually turn out to be a gem. But that will primarily be due to the efforts of the modders - who will NOT get paid - vs. the company, who WILL get the dollars/pounds/euros etc. of the consumers. It's great if people are going to mod the game to be wonderful. In some sense it will make my purchase of the game worthwhile. But it will NOT mean that I'm not justified in complaining about the original game or the company's handling of it; THEY are the ones I paid.

It's like looking at the "Bridge to Nowhere" the U.S. government built in Alaska and saying, "Hey, we're a nation of entrepreneurs, instead of complaining we can pool our resources and build something on that island so it's now a bridge to SOMEWHERE!" That's wonderful, but it doesn't remove the stupidity of the original project or the outrage of taxpayers at having to fund it.

Yeah, but what does this map do? Is it a GUI built with C++ or any other high level language that invokes the methods in the .map files so we can change then instantly? or is it just a purdy picture?

IKS Yo Mama has more or less configured an STBC style keyboard map, but is still working out some of the finer points on it, like a screenshot key.

In any case, there is an m3d exporter available at LegacyUniverse.net. It's in the process, along with the DDS file format for Photoshop/PSP, of being posted to STLegacyFiles.com

hey iks if ppl buy this and find it done poorly they do have every right to bitch about it. they dont buy a game and eypect to have to make it playable via modding it. i appreciate your modders work here . but considered the high expectations and the progresses programming and data storage has made since sta2 i must say i am truely disappointed about what mad dog made of this.

Personally I think people shouldn't moan about the same thing over and over, I dont mind seeing it once, but a thousand threads about how rubbish the controls are is not reasonable. As much as Bethesda have slipped up with this, it is the first Star Trek game in 4 years, it is also the first ever Star Trek game to come with good stock models.

I have also seen alot of people complaining about the graphics, of which those with high end computers have posted amazing screens, so there is no problem there.

Agreed. I think FileFront needs to crack down on the excessiveness of threads since Legacy's release.
