I say what I believe and I hold back for no one,ban me , kill me, or hurt me I don't care. I know it puts people off sometimes, but try not to take offense to it .This attitude has kept me alive, and allowed me to retire at 33 years of age.

The game may, due to the efforts of modders, eventually turn out to be a gem. But that will primarily be due to the efforts of the modders - who will NOT get paid - vs. the company, who WILL get the dollars/pounds/euros etc. of the consumers. It's great if people are going to mod the game to be wonderful. In some sense it will make my purchase of the game worthwhile. But it will NOT mean that I'm not justified in complaining about the original game or the company's handling of it; THEY are the ones I paid.
It's like looking at the "Bridge to Nowhere" the U.S. government built in Alaska and saying, "Hey, we're a nation of entrepreneurs, instead of complaining we can pool our resources and build something on that island so it's now a bridge to SOMEWHERE!" That's wonderful, but it doesn't remove the stupidity of the original project or the outrage of taxpayers at having to fund it.

Yeah, but what does this map do? Is it a GUI built with C++ or any other high level language that invokes the methods in the .map files so we can change then instantly? or is it just a purdy picture?

IKS Yo Mama has more or less configured an STBC style keyboard map, but is still working out some of the finer points on it, like a screenshot key.
In any case, there is an m3d exporter available at LegacyUniverse.net. It's in the process, along with the DDS file format for Photoshop/PSP, of being posted to STLegacyFiles.com

hey iks if ppl buy this and find it done poorly they do have every right to bitch about it. they dont buy a game and eypect to have to make it playable via modding it. i appreciate your modders work here . but considered the high expectations and the progresses programming and data storage has made since sta2 i must say i am truely disappointed about what mad dog made of this.

Personally I think people shouldn't moan about the same thing over and over, I dont mind seeing it once, but a thousand threads about how rubbish the controls are is not reasonable. As much as Bethesda have slipped up with this, it is the first Star Trek game in 4 years, it is also the first ever Star Trek game to come with good stock models.
I have also seen alot of people complaining about the graphics, of which those with high end computers have posted amazing screens, so there is no problem there.

Agreed. I think FileFront needs to crack down on the excessiveness of threads since Legacy's release.
