Frustrating

This just happend: i double clicced on the SFC3 icon and got an unhandled exeption even though i allready had followed the instructions for them and the program did not start at all. Then i rebooted my computer and again double clicced the same icon but this time the program did start however when i started flying i noticed that all the computer voices had gone like they don't exist. Why is that ?

Could be a problem with the SFCVoice.zip. Usually you'll get an unhandled exception error if something has been changed or modified incorrectly that the game doesn't recognize. I suggest uninstalling the game, remove everything out of your registry folder and reinstall the game (DO NOT) install Direct X 8.1 or Game Spy. Then go here: sfc3 beta patch v534_b ( all languages), Starfleet Command III Downloads, Starfleet Command III SFC3 to download the patch for the game (includes Direct X 9.0c, which works with the game). Then go under "properties" (right click on the SFCIII icon) and click "compatibility" and make sure "Disable visual themes" is checked. Then play the game and see if this corrects the problem.

Note: If you are playing a mod, sometimes this will crash the game if the mod is not has not been formatted properly and/or something with your game install just doesn't like the mod, but the "out of the box" install should work correctly if you do what I stated above.

Thanks AlDaja but i did that to before it went wrong. As a matter of fact i am trying to play Minidw.

Ok, that sounds like a problem with the mod, not necessary the game. I had problems with the Minidw mod off and on, sometimes it would work and other times the game would crash. I finally just took it off and stuck with playing my own mod.

I didn't know that thanks so it would be better to forget that mod then , right ?

Yeah, I suggest just installing it out of the box and play the game for awhile and see if you experience the problem. If not then you know it was the mod. It is important that you clear your computer's registry, cause minidw likes to hide stuff in there.

The file is big (working on condensing it) some have had problems downloading it because of the size. I do have a working update (with corrections) that condenses both mods on the SFC III site on my computer and I can send you the files (1.04 GB).

I have taken a look and must say that i am interested. I may even download it but not right now. Sometime in the future.
