Unhandled Exception Error, but fixes dont work.

I know it's been covered everywhere, but none of the fixes seem to work.

After installing SFC 3, I ran the game. It started well, movies played, menu appeared etc. The game ran fine the first couple of times. I went to play it the next day, and all was well until I tried to start any mission, whether it be a tutorial of a campaign one. It would exit with the unhandled Exception error with d3d8.dll. I have looked all around the internet and found many forums on the subject, but no solutions work for me.

For the record, I have:

Done many clean installs
Done the patch
Done the DX9 fix (Not with the patch)
Got driver update
Re-installed DX9
Disable Visual Themes AND windows 2000 compatibility
Also tried Windows NT compatibility
Done the advanced text thingy also in that tab
Tried doing 1024 x 768 res with 16 bit colour

I have Windows XP SP2, directx 9.0c, 768mb ram, 2.53 Ghz Processor.

I seem to understand that there is some problems with an sp2 pc.

Any solutions I may have missed?

Do not use the DX9 fix or, the nemesis mission with the patches, it will cause corruption. The patches include the fix and the nemesis mission.

No, I saw that. I only tried the DX9 patch with a clean install.

They are saying patch it to the latest version without applying the DX9 patch..
