Arrow Unhandled Exception error troubleshooting for anyone with XP.....

Ok, I got a new computer that has XP SP2 on it, and SFC3 runs like a dream. But that didn't happen until I fixed my own Unhandled Exception errors. The following tips will relieve anyone running around here with XP and don't know the first thing as to what to do to fix this. So sit back and read this.......

Before you install SFC3 you will need to update to Direct X 9.0c, then install SFC3, DO NOT INSTALL the DirectX 9 Fix, then install the latest patch (Either 534B or 534C, whichever floats your boat....), then right click your desktop shortcut, and click the "Compatability" tab, you will see the following......

Now check the "Run this program in compatability mode for" and drop the menu down to select "Windows 2000". Selecting Windows 2000 was the only option I could use because all the others demanded I insert the disc when it was inserted.

Don't forget to disable the dreaded "Visual Themes"....

The game should work now.....

This looks to be a driver problem, so try updating your drivers.

A bit of bad news. I followed the instructions for deleting the unhandled exeptions a week ago and up to a few minutes ago it ran perfectly but i just got one again. So it seems i still have that problem, o and i have the same operating system as Greenvalve.

I would have to see the exact error message to determine the problem, but you could try the following:
1. make sure that c:\program files\activision has full control permissions to your user name
2. make sure that there are no viruses on your computer
3. make sure that you have the latest direct X for MS Windows.
Code:
www.microsoft.com/directx
4. update your video and sound drivers
5. make sure that there are no conflicts in the registry
[start->run->regedit] (BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE CHANGING ANYTHING)
6. when all else fails, find a new hobby

One more thing, SFC3 was designed to run on Windows 98SE or Windows ME. The emulation of 2000 on XP/Vista is Windows 2000 Professional which may have some issues since it was designed for people who do not play video games (Thus, most direct X 9 extensions are disabled. BAD JUJU)

Simkilla why do you not trie to install the directx9 fix if all else fails. That should work. You could also trie to download and install the 534 beta patch . Then you have dx 9c .
