EF & Microsoft XP

Can anyone tell me if EF and EF-XP run on the Mircosoft XP home or professional operating system? I'm looking at buying a Gatewayy laptop computer to develope my own maps using EFradiant and for playing EF when out of town.

Anyone have an experience with MS XP? Is the professional version better than the home version?

I've been running EF and EF-XP under MS Windows 98 since EF came to market.

Thank you.

I have WinXP Pro.. EF and EF-XP work fine!
However, you need thse two lines in your autoexec.cfg:

r_ignorehwgamma "0"
r_overBrightBits "0"

Because for some reason EF seems a LOT brighter in XP than in Win98.

Also, XP also has a 'compatability' option which lets you run programs under different Window versions. For example, I have my EF set to run under the "Windows 98 / Windows Me" compatability mode.

Either way.. it works fine :)

About XP Home or Pro.. I have no clue hehe.. but maybe Pro has more options n stuff??? (dont take my word for it :p )

Hello, I have XP Home Edition and EF works great on it, I am currently working on a neat map for it, maybe someday I might even join or start a mod (I am AWSOME with graphics, and animations (screen savers, cursors, flash type junk)

You have a problem...

The EF Expansion won't work unless you install the XP Service Pack and a hotfix (can't remember its ID).

Are you sure?
EF and Xpack worked fine on my normal XP (i.e. without the service pack, etc.).

I'd just created the autoexec file in notepad as my EF didn't have one. In it I put what EXiT said and saved it as "autoexec.cfg" (with the quotation marks) and saves it as an .cfg file in my BaseEF folder and now it works like a charm. who needs the service pack lol
