I have an itching to play this game again I've been thinking about playing this old game again and decided to take the plunge. Unfortunately this only brings in several ' have to ' workabouts to make it work with new software and hardware. To run full screen I used the following command without a problem: opened the console and typed r_customwidth "2560" r_customheight "1440" r_mode "-1" vid_restart Running the program in xp compatibility mode or reducing the screen resolution to 1600x does not help. Tried with and without screen synchronization, opengl. The game runs flawlessly but there's this 'hiccup' during movement that is nauseating to say the least. System: I7920 Crossfire 5870's P6T motherboard I suppose I'm asking too much for an old game to run smoothly?:( I can certainly create a video of what is happening to show you in more detail. Thanks for any input. Long Live the Borg:cool: |
Re: I have an itching to play this game again Are you talking about EF1 or EF2? You didn't specify that little piece of info anywhere. ;) And yes, I'd like to see the video showing the problem, please. :nodding: Also, what OS do you have? Vista or Windows 7? In addition to running the game in XP compatibility mode, try disabling Desktop Composition and enabling Administrative privilege level. |

YouTube - Star Trek Elite Force II choppy play It's a smaller image but what's happening is the fps fluctuates considerably even in basic scenes that I'm showing. Take a look at the Borg at the end....it hiccups as it strides along the corridor. Start Trek Elite Force II Windows 7 x64 |
Re: I have an itching to play this game again I assume from the "Crossfire" thing in your first post that you have an ATI graphic card(s). Check out this thread: http://forums.filefront.com/st-ef-pr...2-stutter.html It describes a problem similar to yours and offers a solution that worked for the thread starter. Good luck. |
