EF2 Problem

I started playing EF2 again last evening and everything ran very well. I attempted to continue to play the game again today and to my suprise and disappointment I discovered that my game is no longer working. When I boot up the game it will automatically load into the developers console for some reason. Other than that all I see is a grey screen with a thick black boarder. Please note that I have installed the patch for this game and that was done before I started playing yesterday and everything ran fine until today. I have not installed any mods to this game as of yet either. Another thing that I find really odd is that I can still hear the sounds from the game its just that I cannot see them. I'll list my computer specs below for all to see just incase its something to do with my system.

Computer Specs
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.06Ghz
Windows XP Home Edition with SP2
eVGA Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 128MB DDR Ram
512MB Dual Channel DDR Ram
160GB HDD

Re: EF2 Problem

If you're getting a 'steady' grey screen instead of a flickering one tends to suggest that the refresh rate hasn't changed to 60hz as it does by default on all opengl applications using windows xp. If you installed some kind of third party application to fix games so they run at a higher refresh rate, try uninstalling it and try again.

Have you tried hitting the tilde "~" key and then pressing Esc?

Nope, don't have any of that on my system.

I didn't suspect the answer to be so easy. I attempted it earlier half expecting that solution not to work and I was quite suprised when it did.
