Reboot is a n00b
Default Installing Elite Force Expansion Pack
The disk loads fine but just as installation is about to begin I get "DDL Check - String not found" and setup terminates.

Any suggestions?

If i understand the problem correctly, I would suggest opening "My Computer" and starting the setup manualy. Just right click the CD drive, and press "Explore". There should be an icon that says "Setup". Double click it ....

If that doesnt work, then keep fishing around the files and you will probably find something that will begin the installation.

if you have XP and that doesnt work, try running it in compatibility mode for something else
