Well this has probably been asked 1000 times but...

What programs would you recommend I use for making/editting maps and models for the original Elite Force? I'm tried doing it before, but I didn't entirely understand it or didn't know how to do stuff (like make textures the last time I tried.) What would be the best programs to use?

Search these forums for the phrase "GTKRadiant" those posts will give you more info about mapping. As for modelling, search for either "MilkShape" or "3DSMAX". 3DSMAX costs hundreds of dollars so only do this if you know you already own it...
