Help with EF1 Damage I was playing EF1, and realized much to my disgust, that the battles seemed NOTHING like the TV show. I would shoot a Klingon with a phaser, or even a phase-rifle, and he was still running around. I didn't like this one bit, so I thought to ramp up the damage on these babies. Having had previous experience with other Q3 games, I understood the process of modding to a certain extent. So I opened up the .pk3s and started poking around, noting how different it was from anything I'd done before. I finally found the weapons.dat file, which as far as I could tell, had all the proporties that the weapons used. But there was nothing about damage on there! So I seached more, and found nothing. At first I thought that there was another file which had the ammo/projectile stats, which held the damage, but no such luck. Which leads me to ask, can I change the damage? Or am I stuck with three or four shots from the phase-rifle to take down a simple scavenger? If it is possible, and you know where, could you point me in the right direction? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time and help, KattFire |
Re: Help with EF1 Damage I'm not sure but I think the damage it set in the gamecode so you if you want to change the damage you need to do in the gamecode and recompile it. |
Re: Help with EF1 Damage Thanks, I'll check into that. I downloaded the SP Source Code thinking it might give me some insight into the damage proporties, but alas I still found no indication as to how one might change it. Nothing indicated where I might find it. I'm stumped, honestly. I'm beginning to doubt myself, as well as the game. |
Re: Help with EF1 Damage Coding isn't easy. You need to know how to work with C++ for that, I think. Here's something you might find usefull: Amazon.com: Introduction to C++: Steve Heller: Books |

Re: Help with EF1 Damage No idea. I've just looked in weapons.dat file and you're right; there's nothing there about damage. Maybe it's in one of the .dll files. :clueless: If you wish, contact this guy: http://forums.filefront.com/member.php?u=64728 He's currently working on a mod for this game that requires coding, so he should be able to help you. Good luck. |
Re: Help with EF1 Damage Thanks, Tricorder. I'll check into it. |
