Can maps be converted for use in Max or Lightwave?

I'm wondering if maps and other models on EFFILES.com can be converted for use in 3D programs like Max or Lightwave?

This map for example would be more useful to a project I'm working on if I could convert it to max or LW for rendering.

I think you can do it with Q3map2 (I'm not sure if you need the .map source, I think you'll be able to do this with the .bsp itself).
Get Q3map2 here: http://shaderlab.com/
Read more about converting from bsp to ase here: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Q3Map2
(specifically, read the -convert switch and also the subsection on making ASE models).

You can import ASE models into Max I believe.
Also, don't forget to get permission from any authors of maps your converting before you re-distribute them in any way.

For models, you can import .mdr formats in Milkshape and then export as a .3ds from there into Max. If it's MD3 format you should be able to find an md3 import plugin for Max.
