Mod Ships in LAN Games

It seems ridiculous to me that I can't even use these moded ships in a LAN game. Both the computer upstairs and downstairs in my house have the same exact files, yet none of the extra ships can be used in a LAN game. Does anyone have anyway to get around this, it would seem like an easy task, considering the two installations of the game are identical. Thanks in advance to any help! :)

I realize I could use MPMP, however this won't let me use all of the ships that I have on the computers.
