Help with Docking

First off, I've gotta say that I love all the great files on the site... they've added so much more to BC! Great job, creators!

I'd really love to get this docking file working in the game, but I'm having a little trouble. First of all, I've downloaded and installed both of these:

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com...ogy_Sytem;8381

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com...framework;4411

After I abandon ship in an escape pod and try to dock with the master ship again, it just catches me in a tractor beam and keeps ramming me against the hull of the ship, trying to pull me through it. Is there something else that I need to download for this to work?

My main goal with this is to be able to play as a shuttle in QB (or play as a regular ship and then "leave" the ship in a shuttle, if possible) then, dock back with the ship or an entirely new ship and take control of it.

I do have the engineering files installed and working and all that, but I vaugely remember something about a transporter file, which I don't have.

I'd really appreciate any help you guys could give me on this.

Thanks :bows:

Re: Help with Docking

When I finally opened up MPE I was like :O ... total shock.

I really had no idea what to open or anything in the way of ship properties.

Aren't there any ships out there that already have all this done that I can simply dl?

Re: Help with Docking

there are a lot of ships out there on BCFiles that already have the capability to launch shuttles, you just need to have the appropriate files...

some i know off of the top of my head are:
most Voyager/Intrepids
most Galaxy's
some Akira's
almost all of p81's ships

Re: Help with Docking

Here's a list of all the installed utilities that I currently have on my computer:
*abandon ship
*d42's accelerated intercept
*d42's sol system
*dock 0.6
*engineering 0.3
*launching051102 new technology
*nanofx2 beta
*quickbattle 2.3
*self destruct
*core eject
*vent plasma

Now, assuming this is all I need, is there anything else that I should do for these ships to actually launch the shuttles? I know with the stuff I have now, I haven't been able to launch anything out of any ship and I've tried it on my intrepids and galaxy.

Once again, I know you guys hear this sort of stuff on a constant basis, but I appreciate the extra help :)

Re: Help with Docking

do you have shuttles? and are they the right kind of shuttles?

who's ships are you using?

Re: Help with Docking

The only shuttles that I have are the default one, and I just installed the Danube Class shuttles earlier today.

As for ships, I've pretty much just been dling whatever I see that I like.

Re: Help with Docking

ok, try the Delta Flyer... that one i know for sure works...

can you name some of the ships you've been trying to launch from, and who made them? it would help :)

Re: Help with Docking

Just dled the BC Raider and Fed Fighter, and forgot to mention that I do have the Delta Flyer.

Here's the list of ships I have that I'd like to be able to launch from...

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com..._Defiant;10163
http://bridgecommander.filefront.com..._Voyager;22243
http://bridgecommander.filefront.com...Intrepid;38298

and of course the Galaxy and Soverign class ships that came with the game.

Re: Help with Docking

ok, did you follow the tutorial and add the proper subsystems to them, so that they can launch shuttles?

and when you say the Galaxy and Sovvies that came with the game, do you mean the stock ones? Unmodded?

Re: Help with Docking

I've read so many tutorials on this it's hard to keep up. Is there a specific one on how to add the proper subsystems?

As for the Galaxy and Soverign, yup, the original stock ones.

Re: Help with Docking

there is a tutorial on how to make ships shuttle capable, and it's located here:

http://www.gamingforums.com/showthre...hreadid=128904

AAAAHHH! you're still using stock ships? even when you know you can replace them? :smack:

get rid of them NOW! two ships i recommend to replace them: CG Sov (a bit system intensive, but if you can handle it, it's well worth it), and the SNS Galaxy... both of them are located at BCFiles

Re: Help with Docking

Ahhh... yes. That's the tutorial that made me go into shock :S

Alright, so last time I tried this I got as far as opening MPE. Those instructions don't seem to be very helpful to those just dling it for the first time lol
