Default n00b with questions

Hello, I've been playing Bridge Commander for quit some time now, it is one of the best games out there right now, second only to the classic Freespace 2.

FS2 is why I'm here. Many people in the FS community want to command the Cap-ships from FS in battle, so do I. What I want to is import many if not all the cap ships from FS into BC. The only thing is I've never modded anything in my life

If anyone can give me some tips of model converting and creating HP and all the other little files that are needed to do what I have in mind that would be appreciated soooo much.

I know there are several tutorials floating around, how good are they? I don't know where to find them or what's included in them, so could someone give me some links?

Also, I really want to see this project take off. And and all help will be welcomed.

feel free to email me at coppa90@yahoo.com

Also, Milkshape uses .nif files correct? Can it convert .cob files to the .nif format?

We haven't ignored you cause your a newbie, so you can knock off the attitude please

You realise that your not allowed to convert ships with out the permission of the original authors, how you would do it I have no idea.

But if your going to want to make hardpoints for them, i suggest you start playing around with the BC HP's to start with....

download the SDK from BCFiles it'll help you get started.

Cheers USSCarter

Really? Someone made a Freespace mod for Homeworld by converting the original FS models...Another thing to look into

Thanks

You don't need anyones permission to convert the original ships. Perhaps you should go find the FS community and find out of people there know how to edit the original ships or make new ones. And then, find out what moddeling program/plugins are needed to do it. Perhaps if you can get some people to convert the models and textures into a form some of us here can use, then people would be able to convert them back.

I did talk to the FSers about my idea. I do know what is needed to convert the in-game FS models into the original format (before ebing put in-game). What I need now is to learn how to convert .cob models in to the .nif format. If .cob can't be turned into a .nif right off then I need to know what format BC start out as before they get put in .nif format.

Really, if there is a tutorial about this sort of thing please, let me know were it is.
