icon_question Editing Ships - need help

Greetings fellow STBC officers,

I am attempting to edit ship stats (shields, speed, weapon damage output) - NOT textures, polygons, design art, et al...

I have read that WordPad or NotePad allows for stat editing...
BUT - my PC opens the files and shows " k Z k Z"

Kindly provide instructions on ship stat editing.

Many thanks!

Ok, but what file are you trying to edit ? I'm asking just to make sure you're editing the right file also do not use WordPad as it has some strange coding when it comes to Python, better use Notepad instead

For stats editing you might also want to check out Bridge Commander Universal Tool (BCUT) it's so far one of the best tools for hardpoints editing.

You are probably trying to edit compiled pyc files. Notepad and BCUT can only open the uncompiled py files. The py files for the original game are included in the SDK Bridge Commander SDK v1.1 Download, Bridge Commander Official Releases and the py files for KM can be found in the src folder.

PS: The Model Property Editor also included in the SDK is able to edit even compiled hardpoints.
