Problem is, last time when i installed the 1.1 patch, it screwed everything up, nothing would load up. I'll give it a try though.

One question: what is the difference ingame when you install the 1.25 patch?

The patches are not a solution to everything, SFC3, and I really wish you'd stop throwing them around as such.

Firestorm - I would check your fed.odf in odf\other and your techtrees before I'd resort to a simple "ah! patch!" action that offers no solution at all. It's also possible that the problem could relate to one of the ships your Fed side gets in stock. This doesn't mean right at the moment you start the game, either, as the AI checks EVERY single .ODF as soon as things begin, and a missing techtree entry or some other scripting component out of place can cause the whole thing to stop. It's a problem I had for a good year with my Gorn side, until I finally realized it was nothing more than a weapon sprite that was missing.

You might also consider doing a total strip-down of fed.odf so that it starts with nothing but a starbase you know works, and let things go from there. It sounds like you have a lot of guess-and-test stuff to wade through. A2 is notoriously fickle about races you play against, to a far greater degree than races you play as yourself.

Starfleetkid, I give you 5*. I had replaced the fdestroy2 in the fyard odf with the percue class. Runs like a dream now. Thanks mate.

i tried adding another construction ship to the federation. As far as i can tell the mod i downloaded is installed fine, but if i construct 2 of them, and construct a station with each at the same time, the game crashes.

i tried the same using the original fconst files. c&p the odf and sod files, changed the name to fconst2. The ship works fine, it has the stations i wont it to build, but the same problem occurs. If i build 2 and construct 2 stations with them, the game crashes.

Could anyone help me with this please.

Strange, I have 4 construction ships for the federation, is it a certain building that is crashing the game? Also, other than what buildings it creates, have you changed anything in the ships odf?

Check also the workbees that are specified, as well as the welding beam those workbees would use, in the .ODF file. One requires a .SOD and the other a sprite entry. This might be part of the problem. Or the hardpoints allocated to deploy workbees from might not be on the new conship the same way as the old one.

Also, you didn't specify if you can build ONE station with ONE of them, or if they work at all.

fconst2 is the new construction ship. Its a copy of the original fconst, which in my game is stock.
The only parts of the odfs which have been changed is the unit name, tooltips and builditem parts. The rest is the same as the original, including the workerbeename and weldingbeamwidth.
The builditems include 2 stock shipyards and 5 more from another mod.
I can build as many fconst2 ships as i like, they are fine in that sense. I can select one and construct any station, they are fine in that sense, so yes, ONE of these ships can construct ONE station. If i wait for it to finish i can construct another station with the same ship or a different fconst2 ship, and it all goes well.
The problem is when i try to construct 2 sations at the same time using the fconst2 ships. Doesnt matter what the 1st station is thats being constructed, the moment i press the build button on the 2nd fconst2 ship, the game crashes.
appropriate techtrees and base.odfs were change to add the new construction ships.
fconst2 uses the same .tga files as the original, i dont think that is the problem otherwise the ship would be built without a texture.
In the last day i have also downloaded other construction ship mods and tried to install them. Following the install instructions, but the same problem happens with them aswell.

In short, i cant seem to get a second construction ship to work for any race.

hope thats all the information you need

the starfleet kid: you mentioned that the worker bees need a sod and a sprite entry. The sod is fbee for my fconst2, but where is the sprite for it? and would it need changing or c&p for fconst2 if the ship is basically the same as fconst? Ive noticed other constrction ship mods dont change sprites other than gui_global for the build button and wireframe

I just installed the game, have done nothing to it other than the Dominion War 1.1 Full Update, and I can't even launch the first mission of the Federation Campaign. It goes through the entire loading sequence, and instead of loading the level, it shoots me into windowed mode and says the program has stopped working. Any idea? Is it Vista?
