Default Load bar progresses about 3/4 of the way then crashes

So I've done some extensive editing of my mod and can't seem to figure out what it could be that causes crashes at the load screen? I edited much of the odf build/hitpoint values for all races ships' and stations' and the game was playable. I then made some adjustments to the AI files for each race, mainly changing the -1 in the build rules for some ships to be a fixed number so that particular line would only build a certain number of times instead of infinitely. I didn't change anything in the techtree as it was ok before. I just wanted some general ideas as I've checked the AI files over and over and just can't see what it could be.

Choosing any race combination for me and the AI players at the selection screen results in a crash at about 75% on the load screen. So it must be something that is needing to load that effects every race? I'm just stumped.

It's possible that you still have some problem with the AI. Although I'm not an expert of the AI files I think it works similar to the techtree: the game builds it up during the loading process. If the game finds a loop in the file, it can't continue and crashes. Maybe you want to build something on tech level 3 for example, before tech lever 3 opened.

I'm centered on the AI as well. I copied my AI backup files back in and the game played again. It's the Borg Incursion VR mod and MAP doesn't have any research and tech levels set up for the AI to build so the ships don't have that dependency. Here's an example if anyone can see a problem with it:

"fyard", 1,1 -1,0
"fdestroy", 1,1, 2,0
"fturret", 2,1, -1,0
"fcruise1", 1,1, 3,0
"fdestroy", 1,1 2,0

Now we only want 2 of the destroyers built in the first reference and later we only want 2 of those destroyers built in the next reference. I thought the quantity to build is only for that line or is the game seeing a conflict in that we told it to build 2 destroyers then a more powerful ship but then later because the destroyer appears again is that a problem? It should be line specific, right? It shouldn't matter what order we build our ships in.

This shouldn't be a problem. Your theory is right, there are several techtrees wich work similar ot yours (building smaller ships, then a few big one, then additional small ones). If you're sure that the problem is not within the AI file then it must be somewhere else.

It's possible that the error is one of the ODF files the game wants to load at the start of the game. These are the starting ships and stations and their weapons ODFs.

I spent hours looking for an error and just couldn't find one.So I reinstalled the game on a different drive and am loading up mods and making changes in smaller increments until complete so I can have a better idea of what might be the problem after each test. I tried STAUM to look for errors but it wasn't really helpful with my inexperience with that program as it pretty much listed every line of every ODF as an error of some sort or another.
