Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

Please let us know if there are any errors or fixes needed for this:

http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Fe...tion_Mod;99719

Just in case we need it. I went over everything thoroughly in the hopes of avoiding any dumb mistakes but one can never be too thorough in the face of dumbness. Please let us know if we missed anything or screwed anything up.

Both galaxy textures are missing, the Spacedock doesn't have anything to do with "bringing in reinforcements" :(
I hope I haven't just made a stupid mistake, but I don't think I have....

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

Both Galaxy's and the Shelley are missing textures (though the hero versions are fine).
The Araxes is missing the undersaucer texture and the Akula's nacelle supports appear black.

Besides from that, awesome work guys!

Appears that you're right about the Galaxy class starships and their textures, but the aforementioned Araxes textures should all be in there (???). I've attached the missing textures and they are available for download here:

http://www.starbase34.net-a.googlepa.../galaxytex.zip

The sensor array, not the spacedock, is used to summon reinforcements.

And while the Araxes and Galaxy are intended in-game, the Shelley and Akula were old models that were eventually not used in the mod (although apparently included; Pizza the Hutt and Beginner respectively were responsible for those models, I think-- I'll have to double-check). My sincerest of apologies that they seem to have worked their way in anyway.

My gaming computer still isn't up (hopefully by the end of the week!) but I'd just like to pop in and say, this looks awesome, can't wait to dive in, and hope you guys don't mind if I cannibalize your Phalanx-class, minelayer stuff, and torpedo sound effects for my build ;)

Awesome work :D

The Akira is also rather big when compared to the other ships, she's like the size of a starbase.

Hi everybody,

I installed i think everyone but when i play i cant construct anything. all the construction ships dont show anything for me to contruct. besides that the game runs fine.

any ideas?

It seems that the artillery torpedoes aren't hitting their targets. They don't detonate on impact, they keep flying on.

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

Majest: we changed out Akira models fairly late; if the scaling's off, it may need to be reduced. I thought it looked okay, though: Akira's a big ship.

blitrell: Did you add the entries to your tech1.tt file? That'd do it. Be sure to follow the instructions.

Terra_Inc: Yeah, I tried to fix that, but I have no idea what I was doing wrong, and after a while we just sort of accepted that the torpedoes had to fire indirectly. If anyone has a fix for this, please let me know.

The is being continued from my other thread. I know now it's not the Sovereign causing the memory swap error...I had the Klingons build it to save me time...and it worked ok. The only other ones I can think of was I was building ships from the sensor array but I don't remember which ones...hmmm...debug time

Oh okay, I just didn't think it was bigger than a Galaxy I thought it was about 400-500 meters in length.

Warborg May 19th, 2009 07:18 PM

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

Ok...I found the location of the problem. It's the sensor array. It builds the first ship ok(Note the wormhole effect doesn't work...the sod is missing(I get the white box with red markings))... then it goes back to the sensor array... I then click to build a second hero ship...it crashes at this point when the 2nd ship is built(I tried different ships. They all crash). So it seems to have something to do with changing to the missing wormhole then back to the sensor array

~465 meters. Very comparable to the length of the Excelsior-class (467 meters) and both of them about 175 meters shorter than the Galaxy-class (641 meters).

This is interesting. I tweaked the "reinforcements" setting (it's really biomatter) up and pounded hero ships out one after the other-- this bears some experimenting. Thanks for the heads-up, Warborg. I'll see if there's a way to resolve this issue.

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

I swapped the sensor file going to warpflash to fluidicrift... and the game didn't crash. I built all ships and it's ok.

So it has 3 possibilities:

warpflash.odf
missing sod
or texture issue.

I've never seen the game crash with the last 2... so I'll look more at the first one

Edit: just for grins and giggles I gave it a sod and it still crashed after the 2nd ship was built

SFC3 May 20th, 2009 04:03 PM

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

I found this in the the odf, fedsensor: buildItem10 = "fedussreconquista"

WTH! reconquista?

Warborg May 20th, 2009 04:07 PM

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

Ok... I found it

ExpireOnClose =1 is the problem in the warpflash.odf.

When I comment it out it doesn't crash.

A side note: is there a sod for the warpflash? I could keep using the Fluidicrift or even switch it to a normal wormhole but I figure ya'll may have created something better.

Edit:

I noticed that too but no odf. I guess it didn't met the grade and was cut

Not so. The Reconquista is a hero ship that doubles as a portable transwarp portal. Here are the associated .ODF files. Once again, my apologies for this oversight.

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

OK, as far as the models that are in the mod this is the errors with the textures/meshes.

fedakula = Missing textures (warp pylons)
fedaraxes = Missing texture for the bottom of the saucer
fedbritain = Where's the blue for the warp coils(or was this intentional)
fedcargo = Texture/Mesh error on the front of the cargo containers
fedchallenger = Not lightmapped
fedcheyenne = Not lightmapped
feddanube = One of the two textures isn't lightmapped
fedfwd = Texture/Mesh error (4 panels on the station disappear)
fedhecate = Not lightmapped
fedmine = No textures
fedmineT = No textures
fedsaratoga = Impulse engines aren't lightmapped
fedshelley = No textures
fedsolidarity = Texture/Mesh error (around the deflector array and the
bottom of the ship)
fedupgrade = Texture/Mesh errors (most of the station is transparent)
fedreconquista = Not lightmapped
fedreconquistarelay= Not lightmapped
missle = No textures
missle1 = No textures
missle2 = No textures
Rotarran = Missing textures (front and rear of the cooling fins on the wings
above the hinge points)

I realize some of these problems may be on purpose as they may use stock textures or they were never going to be used in the mod to begin with.

Now, as for the game play and odf problems..well I don't really care about those, they are easy fixes most of the time, they just take a little patience is all (and a whole lot of proof reading).

On a side note, if you guys are looking for suggestions for new fed ships (already on the a2 site of course) for a second release I can come up with a list for you to act as an example, so would a few other people I think. Thanks to this Mod and the awesome modders we have here it replaced several ships of my current fleet with some nice and shiny new lightmapped versions of the ships I was using that weren't lightmapped. To everyone involved in this mod I just have to say this, Thank you and looking forward to the next release.

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

Thanks, Bastion! We'll see what we can do about these errors. Let us know what the game play/ODF errors are as well, please. They may not seem like much to you, but to newbies they could mean a huge problem.

I think we've got more than enough content for now, though. Although we're open to suggestions if there's truly epic content in question....

I tried to install your mod today, and i got to say, bad *setup* for installation, and the read me was very very bad, i havent seen one of those that poor of quality in years. Anyways, no go on the game play, fired up good old instant and ctd. With out much *reqiuresments you have its not worth chasing down the problem, my advice is come up with a vinilla build of the mod and package it. Save us the end user of your "wonderful" mod time and rather then having frustration because of some bad installation txts, and more pure enjoyment. Thanks my thoughts

Really? I was able to install this mod without a single flaw...the Mod worked perfect(started)...first time for me(in less then an hour).

I would say this was one of the best start up Mods ever(yea, they are a few in-game bugs).

I even installed another Mod from armada2files a few days later and spent a full day debugging it just for the game to start(missing files, mis-labeled commands).

Might seem too obvious, but make sure your not set to use "Free Tech".
I had the same issue, because the install i was using (i currently have about 7 different modded versions of A2 installed) had "free tech" as a default starting point. As soon as I changed it to standard tech, issue resolved.

Majestic-MSFC May 26th, 2009 01:07 PM

Re: Federation Compilation Mod Error Reporting Thread

The mod was fairly easy to install, I think the SB34 team did the install in such a way so that it can be installed alongside other mods like Dan's Cardassian side for example.

I would appreciate it if you could bring to my attention a better setup for installation, in order to ensure that version 1.1 of this mod is easier for you to work with. It would be greatly appreciated.

That's a good fix, Knight-- I hadn't thought of that. We only included tech1.tt as an option, something we'll be correcting for the next version.

Not so much a fix as a workaround lol but thanks, your welcome :)

I suppose now that the problems established, people can create their own freetech additions though. Personally i prefer the techtree. freetechs too easy and sometimes hides where you've missed an install step lol.

Having been around this community for a while, I can tell you that's an unfair assumption. It never ceases to surprise me what people don't know, can't do, or consider to be unfixable. What makes this community different is that we don't scoff or belittle those who can't. We show them how.

Hello Im new here so Hi to everyone.
Ok first off, I have recently downloaded the mod and tried to install it, and I basically copied the commands within the techtree addons and pasted them inside the original techtree files and I did the same with the event.dat file and the weapon files and all other files that needed editing. When I booted up Armada 2 it loaded up ok after I set up free battle to where the new loading screen was displaying Then the game crashed I tried again and the result was the same I looked over all the files and found everything in place the program is patched 1.1 Please Help!!!
