Crash when clicking Repair Button
 

Hello everyone,

I have a modded Armada 2, and it worked just fine, but after I've installed midnight universe and play the game, it still works, then I build the Upgrade center. and researched all upgrades. lvl 2 and lvl3. and I see that some ships and stations their shields are lower and not 100%. And I haven't even battled yet. And so I select my ships to send them to the repair yard to make their shields 100%. but when I click on the repair button. The game crashes...
I've searched for a sollution to my problem (www.starbase34.net - WELCOME TO STARBASE 34) and these forums. but couldn't find any. so now I'm really desperate. I also couldn't find any faults in my armada 2 install. ( I think it's something with the sprites and/or sounds ) I hope you can help me with this problem.
The mods I've installed are.
Midnight Universe 2.0
Vanilla Ultimate
Patch 1.2.5
Patch 1.1
NanoFX
A2 Upgrade Project 1.5 (all of them)
A2 Physics project 1.0
Project Blue Phase 1,2,3
Running Lights (By Fahres)
Dan1025's Cardassian Ships
Achilles Hutet Class
Many Federation Ships
And many other ships and stations. But they all worked fine.

My system specs are
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit
4GB RAM Memory
EAH 3850 ASUS 512 MB Graphics Card
Q6600 Intel Pentium 2.4Ghz Quad

I hope you have enough info to help me with my problem.:(

Check your odfs to see if there is a (special) weapon or ordinance called repair.odf.
It may be in conflict with another repair.odf found in the Other folder.
(The button command for sending ships to a repair yard.)

but when I search for a repair.odf There is only one wich is in the commands folder
repairBase.odf also in the commands folder
repairBeam.odf is in the special weapons folder
repairOther.odf is in the commands folder

Hmm, I just found out that my game crashes when I click on of the orders,
Decomission, Repair, Priority Repair, Explore, Search and Destroy.
when I click any of those buttons, my game crashes,,
maybe it's easier now to find the bug?

your bug is going to be with the sounds played when the event is generated. Try replacing the events.dat file in the root directory with a copy from a stock installation and see is this fixes the problem. (TAKE A BACKUP OF THE FILE FIRST!)

The shield on level 3 upgrade thing is as designed, basicially on researching level3 shields your ships gain 100% extra hit points for the shields and so are reduced to 50% until they recharge. You can notice the reverse if you then lose your L3 shield pod later on in your game; your ships will be at 200% shield strength.

hmmm, epic bug you got yourself, looks like it's time for a re-install...

If it helps I don't think MU could do that.

Yeh, I don't think it's something with Midnight Universe, but something I screwed up myself T_T
And I've already tried to replace the events.dat but still crashes

Well. reinstalling it is then, T_T

All those hours of work T_T :P

I wouldn't go for reinstalling at this point.

The problem is that the sound files are not in the location the files are pointing them to. Either the files have been moved or deleted or the files are pointing to the wrong place.

Have you added in your own race? If so, is it only crashing for this race?

I have Reinstalled Armada2 in another map,
The bugged armada 2 I still have, in case I find the bug.
But yes, I have added a few new races, but don't use them,
The Vulcan Full race and the Temporal Empire, They both worked fine.
But I have removed those from the races.odf
And the game is crashing with all races, when I click on one of the Orders.

I'm really at the point at giving this up.
I'm trying every file I've modded or, looking for bugs, testing them, replacing the sounds files and the events.dat file with the stock ones, (so it's not the sounds that are missing or misplaced) also tried the stock commands odf, still crashes, the stock gui_global.spr (with Vanilla Ultimate ofc) and it still crashes, tried the stock misc ( with Vanilla Ultimate ) still crashes.
I know the problem isn't with Vanilla Ultimate (Great Mod). So I think it has to do something with the commands, But I don't know what. Really giving me a headache. Btw, the only race I play with are Cardassians, but I've tried to give orders to other races (not the add-on races) too, and it crashes with them also. And Achilles, I think you are right. This IS an EPIC bug. Any suggestions maybe??

Bugged file found :)
I don't know what the bug was, but it has to do something with this file

RTS_CFG.h

replaced it with the stock one
So the game works perfectly now =)
but I do have those ugly grids again -.-

If you have installed Patch 1.1 in your game, pressing ALT-G cycles through the grid styles on the map.
