Milkshape help Hello all, just a quick problem I have here. I used to use milkshape 1.7.8 on an xp machine with no problems. I've since had to move to my vista machine, and downloaded the latest 1.8.3 milkshape. I've got it all registered and the plug-ins set up fine but I'm now having 2 problems. 1. Although I've installed the plug-ins fine, same as I've done a hundred times before, now I cannot import any armada sods. (And I'm not talking about non-stock sods) the option to import armada sods is not shown in the import list. However I can still export to sod no problem. Is this an issue with the new version, or have I somehow cocked it up somewhere? 2. When I try and take a screenshot of my model in milkshape, it takes a bmp as normal, but when I open it, it's just blank. Being new to vista, I'm not sure if there is something I'm missing within windows, or if it's another issue with the new milkshape. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Hopefully one of you clever lot will have a simple solution to show me how dumb I'm being....... |
Re: Milkshape help 1. This means that the exporter plugin works, the importer doesn't work with version 1.8.3. You have to find a new importer plugin. 2. This must be one of Vista's little gifts for users. |

Re: Milkshape help Its a strange one. I've managed to sort out the screenshots. Aparently Vista uses a thing called Aero mode, and you have to disable it for the screenshots to work. I have no idea why, but it works. As for the importing, I'm baffled. Even with the non-stock importer applied, I still have no facility to import sods, only export. :Puzzled: |
Re: Milkshape help The plugins are written in and complied with C++ program. If I remember correctly they were made back in the days of Windows 98. The source code is provided with the plugins so if you know anyone that has a C++ compiler running on a Vista-based machine it may be a worthwhile exercise to recomile them and see if this fixes the problem. Aside for that, have you tried running the new version in XP compatibility mode. Don't know what that will do but it might also be worth a try. Good luck |
Re: Milkshape help Thanks for the suggestions guys. With a little help from Ash, I've just got my old 1.7.8 version working. However out of curiousity I've just re-installed the later version for a third time and its now decided to let me import sods. I'm confused now, but it seems to be fixed.........this computer hates me. I want my XP machine back:crash: |
Re: Milkshape help Hey, dont worry... Linux causes me problems, XP causes me problems, Vista i wont touch with a 10 ft. pole of disarming. These things happen.... the good thing is we have a great community here who are willing to help overcome the evils of the OS in order to get results. |
