| I've found several threads on several forums, but haven't found a solution yet: I recently wanted to reinstall A2, after removing a mod. I made sure all files were gone, but I didn't get a setup screen, the installation won't start. "Setup.exe" is listed under processes and not under applications in the taskmanager. I never had any problems with reinstalling A2, and other programs start their installation normally. My system's properties are: Windows XP ATI RADEON 9550 Pentium 4 (2.83 GHz) 512 MB RAM Panda Titanium (anti-virus) (that's all I can think of) Thx, -Alex |

| My A2 disk takes a few minutes to start up. I don't know why it started doing this, but maybe you're having the same problem. It seems like my autoplay (or the disk recognition) is just reeeaal slow. Do a restart of your PC, then insert the disc and wait... keep waiting... if it doesn't start after 10 minutes, it might be something else. Hope this helps.

| Just to play safe do the following before a reinstallation Remove the game completlty Unistall the game using standard means then go into my computer go into your C: drive go into program files Look for a file called activision open it it will have a nearly empty file called Star Trek Armada 2 delete it now try reinstalling the game. what it sounds like has happened is that part installed game has become corrupted so when the computer is searching for where to install the 'new' version of the game it is getting mixed signal (so to speak) from your installed A2. Hope this helps

| to kel333: the autoplay works fine, but when I click "install" the screen just goes away and nothing happens (except "setup.exe" being added to processes in the taskmanager). to paulhanseluk: I removed all remaining files, but I still get the same result. thx for your replies anyway |

| Alex i have know the armada 2 disk to take upwards of 10-15 mins to start the install. this is just a case of waiting for the game to install soz mate. (try moving the files from cd to your hdd and try installing it from there see if that makes a difference)

| Disable your anti virus/ spyware scanners before you run the installation program. You may have problems otherwise as overzealous virus scanners in auto protect mode will try to scan every file that the setup program wants to use (in other words, the whole disc!) If thats not the problem, check the disc for fingerprints or marks. As Matty suggested, try copying it to the hard drive and reinstalling from there. If it won't copy from the disc then you could use a slower CD-ROM to read it, I sometimes use an ancient 4x CD-ROM to read damaged discs because they seem better able to cope with scratches than the later model CD/DVD ROM's. |

| Post I nope, doesn't help. I'm gonna perform a complete virus scan, defragmentation and ad-ware scan and see if that helps. thx for the advice anyway Post II I've got a defragmented, virus and adware free computer, but still no reinstalled Armada. Other setup-files work perfectly, like the recent Star Wars Epire at War Demo (which uses an interface quite similar to armada). I'll see if the cd-rom works on other computers, or try to copy it and use that. Posts Merged - SSA Last edited by Aerilon; January 26th, 2006 at 06:23 AM.. Reason: Merging of Posts... |

| I did at one point have this problem, though it's sorted itself out now. What i suggest, is rather than waiting for the installer, go into the Disk, and try installing it from there. In the A2 CD Directory, there is a folder called "Setup" - try the .exe file in there and not the one in the main CD directory. Good Luck!

| sometimes even clicking on setup in windows explorer it will take a while before the setup thingy opens. ive had this problem before. i click it about 20 times and 5 minutes later i had 20 setup screens(lol). if you want to before you install mods make different copies of a2 on your hard drive that way you can have an unmodded version of a2 for online play or other. |

| Well, first of all, 10-15 minutes?!?!? That is just ridiculous and absurd! So who is responsible for that? Windows? The disk manufacturer? The CD-drive maker? Who ever it was, is FIRED! I would find that intolerable. But that brings me to my second point, turn off ALL the other programs running in the background. XP seems to have a hard time with that. Are you in as the administrator? Do you have all the windows updates? Worst-case scenario, you can pull the reg keys and start from scratch. Lastly, try changing the sceen resolution? -- That's an act of desperation, but it's easy and worth a try... Good Luck! |
