If you have seen my previous thread then u will no tht i cant find the full game n e where, im not gunna give up tryin to find it, but in the mean time im gettin bored with the stard fed n borg ships, can i get mods n ships for he demo game? and if so which 1's (provide a link if possible)
tks
I only have the demo, and I've been modding it since I've dled it last year. About 90% of it is moddable, there are a few things you have to remember:
1. ship odfs go in the station odf, becuase of strange anti-modding settings. If you remove, change or add files into the ship odf files, the game won't run normally, it'll just crash when the demo gets to the loading screen.
2. The techtree files are different, instead of tech1.tt for the main techtree file, you have demotech.tt They differ in that the retail version of Armada 2 are complete, they have entries for the Romulans, Klingons and Species 8472.
3. So are the sprite files.
4. For gameplay, you're limited to 2 maps. The first one is the singleplayer map, in singleplayer mode in the Federation campaign. In instant action and multiplayer, you're limited to the 8 player map, with the 9 planets, the center having 2 dilithium moons.
5. In multiplayer, players are almost nonexistant. No one plays on the demo, but once I did see 3 players on, and since my firewall was causing problems, I didn't see what it could be like.
when u say 90% is moddable, do u mean 90% of the most will work on it, or that only 90% of the demo version can be modded
And can u play multi on the demo, cus wenever i try and go on it it doesnt work
this is gunna take sum time to figure out cus when moddin bc u can just put the files in the main bc directory, and then it installs it 4 u, i dnt know if it is the same with dis but can sum 1 tell me, and if it isnt then can u tell my how to modd the demo
90% of the time, most mods will work, you just have to do different things, when installing or changing things. I've already outlined them there, above. you can play multi, but there is a slight problem. Almost all the time, no one is there. Bridge Commander is different from A2, and I've already said how it's different when modding the retail version, and the demo version. And how to install mods for the demo is already outlined there.
