Question ship textures

I have been making a ship in 3ds max 4 and trying to follow the walkthrough in westwoods big book of moding
i convert my ship to an editable mesh .Put the texture i want in diffuse chanell of the first slot in the material editor apply it to the mesh by draging it to the object ,apply a uvw map to the mesh then an unwrap uvw map then i convert it to a .sod file does anyone know why its not working

ps the texture is a .tga file and it is in the textures rgb directory

Thank you

Is the TGA, a uncompressed 32 bit tga file?

PS

Isn't your screen name not from a trilogy called "The Power of the Earthsee" or something like that?

Unhappy re tga

i have converted it to a 32 bit tga and it still doesnt aply its self
i have allso tried inverting the alpha image but to no avail
do i need to put in a special command node to tell it where to find the texture (if so which one)
or tell it where to find it in the odf file
or collapse the stack

ps my screen name is from the wizard of earth sea trilogy (well theres actually four books in the series now as another one has been published under the title the other wind)

I thought you saved it as a TGA uncompressed 24bit

Default 24 point plan

It is customary to save .tga files intended for Armada II as uncompressed 24-bit Targa files. This applies for build-buttons as well as basic ship textures.

Resistance is futile

Smile Thankyou

Thank you for your replies
i have tried it as a 24 bit image and that does not work either
perhaps its something to do with the way i made the ship
i made it in two halves atached one to the other and welded the vertexes
i dont know if this would make any difference

I will be unable to replie for 10 days

thank you in advance for any comments sudgestions or solutions you may have

Hmm i dont know why it wont work oh hey heres a good idea you might want to change the size to 256 by 256 you never know it might just work depends on your video card so change the size to 256 by 256 to see if that does the trick

sometimes we forget about the simplest little things
