Vesta-Class

I was wondering if anyone was working on the Vesta-Class from the latest ships of the line?
I was hoping to include it in my new mod, but i have 0 modelling skills, apart from the odd kitbash

oooh... she's a beaut.... I might have a crack at her if I could get more pix... and time lol

Did some hardcore web-browsing and found these:

I believe I have enough to begin modeling... Now I just need the time lol

This video is also very detailed in terms of shape:

Re: Vesta-Class

I must say I find the ship very appealing, a few parts I am not fond of. I may at a later date when I get around to doing a Federation side of COE, make my own model and take on the Vesta class.

When you have the model and textures done, will I be able to use it in my Uncertain Future Mod? All credits will be given of course

The only in progress that I know of is here. http://bc-central.com/forums/index.p...,6330.460.html

It will have to be poly reduced though ofcourse.

I like the design of that ship the U.S.S. Aventine. I don't know where she's from? Which is her reference on the web?

StarBlade February 25th, 2010 01:41 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

The Vesta class starship USS Aventine is captained by Ezri Dax in the DS9 relaunch novels. That's the origin of the design.

I have no doubt it will be awesome Majest.

Re: Vesta-Class

I realize this is a bit of an older thread, but I am releasing a Vesta class mod for Legacy. I don't do anything for A or A2 but if there are any porters out there who want to bring it to your side of FF, just contact me. It was a lot of work but I am pleased with how it came out. Poly count is reasonable, less than 25k I think.

Magnificent work, Kophjaeger! Thanks for the offer. I can't do much to be of assistance but I'm sure someone would be more than happy to assist with the port. Lovely ship.

Re: Vesta-Class

Yeah, really nice job. And very nice of you to offer it to us.
I'll let others speak first, as I'm sure someone will snap it up to do the port.
Great job:)

Edit: the poly count will most likely be a problem, however

Kophjaeger August 11th, 2010 03:46 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

Thanks guys. There are probably some easy ways to cut it down.

Re: Vesta-Class

Yes, a great looking job and done in Milkshape no less. Kudos for a job well done.

Major A Payne August 13th, 2010 12:57 AM

Re: Vesta-Class

See. I'm not the only one who's worked with higher-than-average poly counts in Milkshape :)

A fine piece of work to say the least.

Flash525 August 13th, 2010 09:38 AM

Re: Vesta-Class

Hmm... Been a while since I've touched on poly reduction (or much of anything to be honest) but I wouldn't mind seeing what I can get this reduced too if the offer is still standing?

gtEk August 15th, 2010 12:52 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

I've always been a big fan of this class of ship, outstanding work Kophjaeger and thank you for sharing this with the rest of us!

SciFiFan August 15th, 2010 08:48 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

I have started my attempt at the reduction. After mostly reconstruction of one of the groups, It has went from 22662 poly to 16816 poly.

If I can have the same success on the rest of the model, she will be great.

dEjavU' August 19th, 2010 08:12 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

Good luck with the poly reductions SciFiFan in the mean time I took a snapshot of how she looks in fleet op's(I have yet to add the glows) :p

Re: Vesta-Class

Gimme that ship, I'm sure I can reduce it somehow :D Seriously, if someone would be so kind and send me the MS3D file and textures, I would start to work on with high priority.

SciFiFan August 21st, 2010 05:25 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

I now have her shaved down to 10124 poly.

Majestic-MSFC August 21st, 2010 05:43 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

I think if someone can get her down to like 2500-3000 that would be an fantastic effort. Well worth a spot in anyone TNG A2 install.

The funny thing is I would do a total rebuild if I was working on it, using the one here as a guide to get proportions and size correct. However if I did that I would want to do new textures to match Aad's however since I can't make textures would be a waste for me like all my other post-TNG models I have done.

Kophjaeger August 22nd, 2010 05:34 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

Nice sci-fi fan and dejavu. There were alot of easy vertices to merge I'm sure. If it were any other design, a rebuild would work, but I'm sure these guys can appreciate, she is a strange shaped craft. I've never spent so much time vertex nitpicking. 10k was about the size of the basic model if I recall

dEjavU' August 22nd, 2010 07:16 PM

Re: Vesta-Class

Thanks again kophjaeger(yup she's a beauty alright). ;)
