rice of Peace (help needed) Okay everyone, as some of you may know I am working on a new Mod that will add a few new races as well as revamp the current ones. I have however ran into a little snag in my plans. You see i am starting with the Federation, by adding things Like an Incursion Class, a new shipyard to recruit Heros and such. But one of the Many Items that I am trying to get into the Game are new types of turrets, I am (at current) Using Stock Models for my new additions. The problem I am getting is that I have Created a Quantum Torpedo Turret as well as an Artillery Turret and Can't seen to get them to fire, as of yet all I have done is change the Weapon to the ones that are used in the Ships but they will only fire when I tell them to, and can't seem to figure out how to get them to fire on their own. I am using the Upgrade Project in this mod so as to prevent the building of more than one of each of the Hero ships. but as of yet I am at a stand still intill I can get these turrets to work correctly. Any help will be welcome. Jasoneagle. p.s. did not notice title was wrong intill after clicking Submit can an admin change it, should be "Price of Peace" |
Re: rice of Peace (help needed) If they won't fire at all, the first thing is to spell check the weapon ODFs, followed by the turret ODFs. If these are okay, did you add the turret to the techtree files? Fixing things in a mod is all about the details. You have to check all of your work and then check it again and be really picky about it. It can be very tiresome the third or forth time the damn thing does not work and not nearly as much fun as modeling a new ship, I know. But the mods which I prefer and recommend the most to others are those where all of the details are right. If you need a hand, or just a second set of eyeballs, PM me, please. |
Re: rice of Peace (help needed) Other things to check: Make sure the turret has a "rangeScan" value or else it won't be shooting at what it can't see unless you order it to waste its ammunition like that. ;) Double-check that "special = 1" doesn't show up any place in the .ODF entries. If you've configured the turret weapons to use special energy, even if they're not special weapons, you'll need to make sure that the game knows it can think for itself and fire on its own initiative. Include the following: SHOW_SW_AUTONOMY = 1; Hope something there helps. |
Re: rice of Peace (help needed) Can you post up the odf files for one oth them so we can have a look see. |
Re: rice of Peace (help needed) personally I hope you stick with Rice of Peace, adds a mystery to the mod... people will play it for a week or two then send you an email asking where the rice is. |
Re: rice of Peace (help needed) Well so far all I have done is Change the Type of Weapon to the same ones on the Different Ships (Steamrunner for Artillery, and the Enterprise for the Quantum) I can make them fire by clicking on them and targeting a ship but the, mainly the Artillery, Will not fire on its own with out being told to do so. This is a Problem as the Mod will be an IA/MP Mod and I want to make it so that the Computer Builds these NEw Turrets and stations and if I can't get it to work right now... As for Keeping it Rice of Peace well... The Idea is good but Even the Title of Price of Peace is well a sort Ironic Title as the Peace has actually caused More Violence as new Factions are formed and New (Old just highly Illegal by the Feds and More) Weapons are placed into Use by the different Factions, even the Federation had Viloated some of its Peace Agreements, Thus the Incursion Class in the Mod as well as a few other types of ships will have Cloaks and other Aquired Tech from different Races. I am even hoping to add some New Items and try to make it more balanced and Harder for all, Even the Mighty Borg Tac Fusion Cube will fall to some of the Improvements I will atempt to make. This mod however will not Change the Campaign Play as I am adding everything Different as a Seprate odf file (All hail the "baseName" and "#include" commands) |
