But thankyou very much for all of the positive feedback on the models so far...much appreciated! Here is my latest update... Spoiler: Spoiler: On the UNSC side of things - I'll be honest - I havent done that much (but I have been playing around with this... Spoiler: Right - i mentioned the colouration thing, eh? I ve been thinking... Halo Wars ok? you can choose the race you want to play (UNSC or Covenant) but also who your general (hero) is... This effects what units you can use in game... So - I have been thinking - The Covenant split over two races - The Fleet of Swift Retribution and The Fleet of Glorious Fortitute. The Fleet of Swift Retribution As the name suggests, this fleet has access to Smaller, more agile ships as befits a recon and light combat fleet. They Operate the; CCS (grey) DSS (grey) CPV (the Strange looking destroyer thingy) The Covenant Fast Carrier (think baby Assault Carrier - not designed yet) CNC (Needler Corvette) Jackal frigate (I think it was in the Book Contact: Harvest?) Seraph Superiority Fighter Tarasque Bomber (not designed yet) The Fleet of Glorious Fortitute This fleet employs the heavier Covenant units; The Assault Carrier Reverence Class Cruiser Purple CCS CPV Purple DSS CNC Seraph Tarasque Gigas Heavy Fighter (not designed yet) I will probably add to this unit list as I go - Im just throwing out some ideas here!:) (or maybe its better to keep the Covvies to one race?) - of course, I will have the Flood playable as one of the four races...What do you all think? |
Re: dinosaurJR's Halo Mod I like the UNSC freighter and support frigate, and both versions of the Sword of Sanghelios look awesome. Sub-factions can be hard to code, but they are doable. I'm using a starting station that can't be built and acts as a research station. It has a pod for each sub-faction and only one pod hardpoint. This limits the number of pods that are buildable to one. You can then have the pod unlock the ships for a certain sub-faction in the yards, or start with an unbuildable construction ship that can build a starbase for each sub-faction, with the starbases needing the pod to unlock them. Then each sub-faction could have it's own yards, construction ships, etc. Also, if you want somebody to make UI's, I could do that. Here is an example of a Federation UI that I made. I could also add other things like transparency to make the interface look like the Covenant's holographic controls. |
Re: dinosaurJR's Halo Mod I love the new Covenant destroyer, I swear your modelling skills improve with each update lol. I like the Engineering Support Frigate, but the freighter looks a little too much like the frigate, maybe designing one from scratch would give a better result (but of course it's your call). I'm also liking the idea of the seperate factions, it'd be a good use of the different colours of Covenant ships, and adds more variety to what is already promising to be a great mod. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing more :) |

I can add a unit to game manually, and I can (to a certain extent) make an odf using cut / paste but that really is it.:( Also, some interesting ideas about sub - factions... but how to get the AI to use them? Dan, I think you are correct - the freighter and the combat frigate look really simmilar from the top (which could be a problem in game...) Maybe I should make a new freighter... Anyways - more coming in the near future...:cya: |

I really like you idea of separating the Covenant by Colours, having one grey and the other Purple. You could have Regret commanding one and Truth commanding the other. Or simply have the purple as upgrades to the grey. Its really what you would prefer. Or you could even have one colour as the Elites (after they leave the Covenant) and the other as the Brute Lead Covenant under Truth. I would also love to see the Flood as a race, you could even do it that like the Borg they mainly capture other races vessels and stations and use them. Quote:
Unfortunately I found the AI really limited in A1 and A2. Some people more experienced than I have managed to make it do amazing things and maybe they might know how to make the AI do what you want, my suggestion is Achilles he seems to really know more than the average modellers how to do awesome AIs. If you do find out I would love to know myself. :) Great work as always. |

Im really trying to make the models as good as they can possibly be - its hard without any real reference material apart from games and a couple of images from books / comics etc... I was going for a baby CCS kind of look...but now I think it looks kind of snake like. As for the Feighter - yes, your correct - its not good, I will make a new one :) Quote:
As for the Factions thing - I wasnt really thinking of when in the Halo timeline this mod will be pre or post schism (or what ever they call the breaking apart of the Covenant) - but deffinately somthing to think on... Quote:
