Star Trek Armada II: Rebirth of the Empire

ok I already posted this type of thread before, and noone responded to it so I dropped it from this site, and have been on PGA and AFC ever since. But i decided that I would post again with updates to see what everyone thinks now. here are the shots, the first set are of models that are done meshwise mostly and the last section is ingame borg shots. And Sorry Ash, but I havent a clue on how to do spoiler tags so if you could put them it, that would be greatly appreciated.

I love it! But the renegade could have a few more polys at the saucer.
The cube is interesting but i miss something on it.

Hello: :cya:
I must say I'm really really looking forward to see this mod complete. The models are very well done and the textures compliments the models really good. I hope that you can put some textures in the Cube Yard and to finish the Renegade (that ships looks better with every update  ). Well done EO. Keep it up! :bows:

This may sound sad, but iam really looking forward to seeing what the borg looks like in this mod, EO, I really like the way you have taken the borg and developed them a different way and are thinking outside the box.

Wow! those look good, I love the sphere yard idea, the Borg ships all look very good; I like the Renegade, but I think the deflector is a little, large... But overall they look very good, and I look forward to the Mod.

By the way, what timeline is this in, like after Voyager, or Tng?

Hello:
Indeed, many progress were made during this time, and is more than welcome. Specially for the Vivace, that ships looks awesome, like a future companion for the Intrepid or the Nova :)
The Hellbringer... well, it's make justice for the name :p
The Renegade is getting better and better with each post.

Keep it up EO!, ROTE will be way of a mod :)

Beuatiful models EO, that Vivace especially is catching my eye.

Epytron_Omega January 11th, 2007 09:03 AM

Re: Star Trek Armada II: Rebirth of the Empire

thank you very much everyone, the story behind the hellbringer having its name is simple... sort of. When the Borg returned to the alpha quadrant, under the leadership of another Borg Queen, several of these vessels were part of the fleet, and being that they ripped the joint forces of the Federation, Klingons, and Romulans to bits with only a couple of shots, they were deemed the Hellbringer by the crews of the task force, and shortly after that battle, the Borg assimilated a few ships and the name transfered into the conciousness of the collective, therefore they 'borrowed' the name.

On the Renegade, I plan to have her finished by the end of the month, there are no gaurentees but that is hopefully when she will be done.

The vivace is a beautiful model, the low poly version is 95% accurate thanks to MaP.

Thanks for responding about the name EO, always nice to see a mod with plenty of thought and effort going into it...

And a question of curiousity, will RotE feature ships with lightmaps?

Datarock January 11th, 2007 03:43 PM

Re: Star Trek Armada II: Rebirth of the Empire

The Borg pictures in the first post look like they have Lightmap's?

Epytron_Omega January 11th, 2007 06:42 PM

Re: Star Trek Armada II: Rebirth of the Empire

that is correct, all models for ROTE will feature lightmaps where available. for instance, there will be some ships/stations that wont have them, not sure which ones will and will not yet, so give me time to figure that out.

Re: Star Trek Armada II: Rebirth of the Empire

Hello::cya:
After reading the last post, you should add the name USS Mona Lisa to the Renegade's ODF.
After seeing how much detail you are adding to the Enginnering Section EO, you should be careful not to put excesive details on the Saucer. But better I should keep my mouth shut until I see how your ship will turn out :D .... and for what I've seen, it would be in less time that I would expect.
Nice job EO, keep it up!:bows:

I like those Escape Pods.

Hmm... Aren't the Impulse Engines on the back of the saucer a little... Big? It might just be me, but they appear to be significantly larger than you'll find them on any other ship.

Yeh, but think about it, this isnt any other ship, i think it's suppose to unique.;)

It can be a lot more unique WITHOUT the oversized impulse engines. It looks like a reduced Sovereign with the same size impulse engines that way. What'd be unique is if it had the impulse engines on the warp nacelles or something truly unique. The Renegade still follows the same basic law of Starfleet design carried from Daedalus to Sovereign and beyond. Its whole aft saucer can be an impulse engine ---that wouldn't make it unique to me....

Re: Star Trek Armada II: Rebirth of the Empire

The Hellbringer reminds me of the failed Darksaber project in the Starwars EU, It for those who don't know was a big Death Star like laser that was designed for the Hutts by Bevel Lemelisk, but failed and was destroyed because of it's shoddy contruction. We here it is
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darksaber
Hey maybe the Borg assimilated a Starwars fan and got the idea from him. I imagine Hellbringer wouldn't be the Borg designation, more the starfleet nickname, maybe because it ignites the atmosphere of a planet something like that. Anyway good work so far

Along with the updates to the Renegade, I have another mesh I just completed. Tell me what you think, its the ROTE version of the Neutron SubClass Nebula. SHe weighs in at 1900 polies, which isnt too bad.

I think it is an outstanding model (specially because its a Nebula-like ship ;) ) and she is worth of every poly. I like it very much, since it also include several sections in common with the Renegade.
